Anyone have a suggestion for a nice place to stay, moderately priced, clean and safe for the Phillips Arena area.

Restaurants, too?

Thanks!

There's a Doubletree that is attached to CNN center. Don't know what the rates are. That whole area is covered with decent hotels that are a stone's throw from CNN. Check Hotels.com and Orbitz. Check out Westin Peachtree Plaza and get a room way up high for a great view.

Speaking of stones...you can hit dozens of really good restaurants with a rock if you throw one. There are too many to name without knowing your tastes...

Italian, Mexican, or some place with a great sandwich or salad.

I wouldn't stay in that part of town. We don't go to restaurants in that part of town either. It's too sketchy. I'd stay at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead so I could shop at Lenox and Phipps. Dining is expensive in Buckhead, but there are several restaurants in the warehouse district off Howell Mill, not too far from Phillips Arena, that are inexpensive -- Bone Garden (best Mexican ever -- better than Nuevo Laredo) and Figo (inexpensive Italian). Doc Chey's has some great salads, but it's sort of out of the way from where you would be.

For a chain restaurant you can't beat Houston's chicken salad with tortilla strips. Several locations in Atlanta.

If you want to splurge on Italian in Buckhead, try Antica Posta. Just like Tuscany.

We will stay downtown for a concert...it's so easy to walk to Phillips. We usually stay at the Westin Peachtree Plaza, which is just a few blocks away. Eating downtown is another issue, especially on the weekend. I, too, would recommend Howell Mill area. LOVE Figo...yum, yum. Will have to try Bone Garden (if it's better than Nuevo Laredo, then I am in!!) There is a Dantanna's in the CNN Center...they have decent food/bar.

So what is at Phillips that is bringing you to the ATL??

The Bone Garden is owned by Michael Benoit of The Vortex and his wife. It is truly great food, but it is different than Nuevo Laredo. They both have a place in Atlanta!

I love Nuevo Laredo too - but I've begun to gravitate toward Uncle Julio's Casa Grande on Peachtree. Their signature Swirl is delicious!

Try the Bone Garden. Order a brisket burrito. If you can take the heat, add fire roasted jalapenos. Let me know what ya think!
