Not sure where to put this, but since salt's got a pretty bad rap, I'll go with Health, etc.

What's y'alls take on it? Good, bad, terrible? I have to say I love me some salt. In fact, I usually salt stuff before I taste it. I've not been told to reduce it by a professional, but I do think I probably go overboard a little. Skunky? Anyone?

I never salt anything that I cook. However, I get too much salt still I am sure as I love eating potato chips, fritos, etc, and they are full of salt. Wouldn't say I go overboard with eating them though, you could buy a no salt product or Mortons Lite Salt, which is half the salt. If food doesn't already have salt in it, I don't add it. Just never have cared for it.

Love salt, and don't have salt-sensitive blood pressure. During the summer, if I'm out and about and sweaty from the humisery, there are times I feel like I could eat half a deer lick.

was a fan of sea salt cause it didn't make me feel bloated
at this point that is questionable, isn't it
maybe sea salt mixed with dispersant will help break up cholesterol

Salt is so wonderful, a delicious flavor! I use a fancy sea salt now, but very, very rarely.

Contrary to belief, the right salt is good for you. It's the processed, white salt that if used in high quantities can raise your blood pressure, etc. Table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt, so it loses all the natural elements, 84 to be precise.

The best salt is Himalayan Pink Salt. It is hand harvested and is pure with no toxins. Not all sea salts are created equal, some have toxins in them.

Here is more interesting info taken from a site:

Containing all of the 84 elements found in your body, the benefits of natural Himalayan Crystal Salt include:

  1. Regulating the water content throughout your body.
  2. Promoting a healthy pH balance in your cells, particularly your brain cells.
  3. Promoting blood sugar health and helping to reduce the signs of aging.
  4. Assisting in the generation of hydroelectric energy in cells in your body.
  5. Absorption of food particles through your intestinal tract.
  6. Supporting respiratory health.
  7. Promoting sinus health.
  8. Prevention of muscle cramps.
  9. Promoting bone strength.
  10. Regulating your sleep -- it naturally promotes sleep.
  11. Supporting your libido.
  12. Promoting vascular health.
  13. In conjunction with water it is actually essential for the regulation of your blood pressure.
I am not saying that all of the above is true and I make no claims, just posting info from Dr. Mercola's site. My dentist has had lunch with Dr. Mercola and said he was a brilliant man. Either way, the difference in taste between this salt and the iodized junk in the grocery store is vast; that much I know. I keep 3 or 4 bottles of it in the house and I get it in the Vitamin Shoppe. They have to order it because they can't keep it on the shelves long enough.

is that enough info about salt??
