As the saying goes, you get kind of tired of turning the other cheek when both of them have been bloodied so many times.

I'm tired of the lies. I'm tired of the hysteria. I'm tired of the right wing whackjobs who are currently trying so hard to destroy the America I love and there just doesn't seem to be a civil way of relating to them anymore because they keep spewing such hatred and lies on a constant basis.

As for the Snopes, that passage is clearly there, and Lynnie's version is one paragraph of truth followed by much fabrication.

Go read for yourselves y'all and let the truth set you free.

I posted in an extremely civil manner and just look at the sowal left wing nutjob(s) who stepped out in a 'civil' manner.

I am tired of this crap as well. Please note: there is no hatred spread by me and I will assume you didn't direct that statement at me.

This was great little experiment to draw out those who throw stones at glass houses.

It does look like the email is mostly refuted on snopes. What I don't understand is the blatant attack on Lynnie? I guess that is all politics has boiled down to, lack of civility and tolerance.

Why am I not surprised. Many of the posters on this forum have become downright...I can't find a word strong enough, if anyone points out anything that is not supportive of their position or in disagreement with it. If you are so naive as to think there are some things in an over 2000 page bill signed into law, then you deserve everything you will eventually get. Whether this particular function of the law is true or not, it really doesn't matter. There are other parts that will matter and most of us probably will not like them.
I have met Lynnie at one of the soirees. She is a very vibrant, intelligent and caring person. That is more than I can say about some of the others posting here.

If you believe the email, then you are part of it. If you were fooled by something so easily refuted, then people are going to call you out on it. You can either be more offended, redfaced, or laugh at yourself.

If you really meant it as an experiment then that is also known as trolling.

"Many" is quite the exaggeration, especially since there are 16,776 registered SoWal members. There is just a vocal minority that represents political extremes on this board. Just like there is a vocal minority that gets the most attention in life OFF this board.

Before you get all uppity about "many of the posters" on this forum, I wonder if you realize that you and a handful of others represent the far-right vocal minority and there is an equal-size vocal left minority- probably a whopping total of 20-30 people participating in these political discussions, out of 16,776!. I'd be careful Andy- so many extremists on one message board!

Kurt, it is absolutely 100% up to everyone to end ignorance and fear. It is even up to the left wing posters here.

I am hardly a troll and I think you know that. This 'dhimmitude' could have been discussed and perhaps it still will be discussed. One never knows. Relatively civil is well, relative, I suspect.

Snopes makes its claim as the email is MIXED - meaning, there is some truth and some stretch of the truth. I also posted wikipedia. But, to further the points that perhaps the bill wasn't read (which has been debated here frequently) and even snopes states that there is plenty of time for amending.

I fully realize I am on the right but certainly disagree that I am an extremist but if you have that perception, so be it. I am really a pretty nice guy, according to the few friends I have.
As I have said many times I do not post here for you or your friends, Jenny. I post for those guests and lurkers who read this forum so that they receive my point of view. I don't expect to change yours or "many" others here on this forum. Regardless of whether you agree with us or not, Conservatives, Tea Party Patriots and even Republicans are not stupid as the "extreme" on your side would like all to believe. Most of us have manage to live a lawful, productive and self supporting life, as have you.

Not at all. But, I find it interesting that some are seeing this from a very one-sided perspective. Andy's comment that there is plenty in the law that will and does matter more demonstrates that he got it. Others didn't get it, or chose not to. Like I said, this could have been discussed.....whether the email circulation is 100% true or not.

Chill out Andy. I didn't call you stupid or say you weren't nice. Once again, you think anyone who disagrees with you is attacking you. I merely pointed out that your views are very conservative, which puts you on the extreme right in this group, and that the extreme right AND left on SoWal. com are a minority- the majority of SoWallers don't participate in the political discussions. There are plenty of Republicans and Democrats that lean more towards moderate, and they are the silent majority.

I think it all boils down to "people" over "party" for me. Take Andy for example. My political views are a polar opposite from his. However from reading his posts this last year, I have gotten a strong sense of what a decent and good person he is. Because of this, I am not as quick to discount his political belief system and I am more apt to at least consider some of his points. I am also very fond of Lynnie and I know how sweet she is and it bothers me when I see pettiness directed towards her. I truly think politics in general has become a negative force in our country.I hate to see it dividing good people here in our paradise. Okay, enough babbling for me today.
