Ryan to unveil budget plan that cuts $6 trillion in 10 years ? CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

Very savvy political calculus...it eliminates Medicare but not for those already on it or those close to being eligible.

Old folks vote so that constituency will not be affected.

No new taxes and you get to keep the same government subsidized healthcare you enjoy.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

The jury is out on whether it is politically savvy but it is humane. Those on the plan or close to being on it are provided for and everyone else has ample time to make other arrangements. And the block grants for Medicaid is an important first step in turning this program over to the states.

I wonder if the budget and the deficit fiasco would be different if Congress had some union - trained negotiators:dunno:

To me it is political genius, old folks who vote in higher percentages are unscathed. It doesn't kick in for ten years so there goes balancing the budget.

As far as being humane, buying individual health insurance when you are 80 years old may be a stretch.

FWIW, the guillotine was designed to be humane, too. :dunno:

As far as Rick Scott running the Medicaid program I see a Carl Hiaassen novel.:lol::lol:

I believe the plan is for private plans to compete for the recipient's benefit, much like medicare advantage. But we have over 10 years to prepare for the eventuality.

As to Rick Scott running medicaid, he can't be worse than Bush and Obama.:D

So we once again won't be addressing anything the military does. If you don't then they will fill that hole left by Medicare/Medicaid very quickly.

I'd like to know how much that campaign video cost the taxpayers?

Once again we are to believe someone from the party that is primarily responsible for the last two massive bumps on that graph?
