The 1st amendment says that the government cannot make laws impeding the free exercise of religion or abridging the freedom of speech. It does not say that elected officials can publicly discriminate against people on the basis of their religion.

The Governor of Texas is hosting an event funded by a hate group that refuses to let people of any other religion speak. It may be partly funded with taxpayer money.

Perry has chosen to align himself with people who heckle during prayers in the US Senate, try to prevent Muslims from building mosques anywhere in the US, and who boycott companies for giving their same sex employees equal benefits.

I had previously thought that Perry would get the Repub nomination & would be Obama's most formidable opponent. After reading this article, now, I'm not so sure. I would have thought Perry would at least want to appear relatively mainstream. Exclusiveness & xenophobia are not winning characteristics for a presidential candidate.

Have you ever read the first amendment? Google "christians+lynching" images and tell me those are Muslims standing around watching.
