Keeping it 68 ish but running non stop and thermostat says 64. But another indoor therm. says 68.

you could be too low on unit size,low on charge, reversing valve not working and the outside unit freezing....the weather now for you is extreme

look in the air handler at the heat strips...one of the elements could be broken and you are not getting auxillary heat. is the aux heat indicator light on at the thermostat?

yes auxiliary heat is on ( it says) thermostat says 62. Inside thermometer is 66.
New air handler installed last summer. Don't know tonnage. Outside unit making funny noises.
Been running for hours. Thanks Bob for ur help

Usually the auxiliary strips will just help the heat pump. If there's any warmth then the unit is working, but with the cold it may not be able to keep up.

you may only be getting heat from the strips if the outside coil is frozen from low charge or no reversing valve action. ice on the outside coils will happen if that's the case.
