You won't get an argument from me attesting to the mental stability of men of the cloth.

I am willing to bet on this guy's drug test they find SSRIS and ADD meds. Seems to be the MO for crazy white kids who go urban hunting these days. I am not a gun proponent at all, but these drugs are doing a number on our youth. Combine that with easy access to weapons and you see what you get. Every mass shooting over last 20 years has one thing - Natural News

I'm willing to bet they will find he feed himself a steady diet of extreme rightwing websites filled with conspiracy theories.

This guy had some weird racist agenda too, no doubt. 16 to 24 years old kids killing people isn't conspiracy theory, it is straight up drugged induced.

Yes, yes, that must be it for no one could possibly be consumed by so much hate and twisted ideology to commit a crime such as this one. He could have drugs or even alcohol in his system but they would only serve to embolden his resolve and not be the primary factor as to why he had his website, penned a manifesto, and then planned and carried out the assassination of nine black people including a South Carolina politician. It could just be he was on drugs and simply hated being forced to go church as a child so he was striking out against his overbearing mother......................nah!

I think it takes more than one factor to create a perfect storm of bad ideas that lead up to these violent acts. After the fact, it only makes sense to accurately identify all factors in order to prevent future occurences of similar acts. There may not be any one root cause in this case. Take away the racial hatred and would he have found some other reason to commit a violent act due to defective thought processes? I don't know. Take away his mental instability, would his belief in white supremacy been enough motive for him to commit these murders? Again, I don't know. It would be foolish not to focus on the obvious fact that this crime was racially motivated, but it would be short-sighted to assume that was the only factor. Clearly our country is too heavily populated by people who agree with his manifesto, if not his actions, but we also have a bunch of idiots who like to just do **** without regard to the consequences.

There are clearly crazed people who go for the thrill of the kill with maximum shock value. Columbine, Aurora, and Sandy Hook are the first ones that come to mind. This man is in another category, a category that has law enforcement across the nation on edge, rightwing extremism. There are a lot more just like him still out there. If you remember back in 2009 The DHS issued a report on rightwing extremism and the Right went absolutely ape**** calling it an Obama DHS hit job against all things Conservative while failing to mention that the report was commissioned by the George Bush administration.

A recent survey of law enforcement agencies nationwide found that police consider right-wing attacks like last week's mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina to be a greater threat than Islamic extremism. The survey, conducted last year by Charles Kurzman and David Shanzer of Duke University, in collaboration with the Police Executive Research Forum, found that 74 percent of law enforcement agencies ranked anti-government extremism among the top three terror threats they faced.
By contrast, threats linked to groups like al-Qaeda registered at that same level among only 39 percent of the 382 agencies surveyed.
In an op-ed published in The New York Times just a day before the Charleston shooting, Kurzman and Shanzer wrote that counterterrorism officials at 19 law enforcement agencies maintained in recent follow-up interviews that they were more concerned about the threat of right-wing extremism than the threat of Islamic extremism.

I applaud Walmart, South Carolina, and possibly Mississippi for finally making the long overdue move to rid themselves of the Confederate flag, it's a start.

Charleston is racially motivated. Sandy Hook, Columbine, Aurora...these were incidents of crazy, drug induced psychosis. Also why the young kid mass murderers with bowl hair cuts?

Why aren't conservatives encouraging people to carry guns into church? All it would have taken is one armed good guy to prevent this tragedy.
If we accept that "the only way to stop a bad guy w/ a gun is a good guy w/ a gun," then, isn't the logical conclusion that Everyone! should be carrying a gun Everywhere!???
Not the kind of world I want to live in.
