I am just finding my way around here and everyone has been soooo nice and welcoming. I have been active on other forums, but this is the warmest one I have ever found. I found it by looking for info on the area, since my daughter will be a resident in Jan.

I would love to get to know the regulars better. So if you will indulge me with where you have lived in your life and now.

And I promise I won't show up and try to sell you a vacuum cleaner

I was born in Halls, Tn. population 3000 minus one. ;-)
I lived there until I went to school at UT, go Vols.
Then after graduation I taught school in the Cleveland, TN area for about 8 years.
Moved back to West TN and have been in Memphis, ever since. :bang:

How about the rest of yall?

Let me preface my list by saying I have traveled extensively including an extended 10 week trip to Valencia, Spain. However, I have not only lived in the same state but I've stayed with in an hour radius from my parents house. Well, it's really an hour and a half with Atlanta Traffic. I tried to rectify my situation by marrying a guy that was born in spain and moved around his entire life - back and forth to spain and all around the US. Surely he'd take me to several exciting places, right? He confessed AFTER we got married that he married me for my stable roots and he had no intention of ever moving. UUGGGGHHHH. . . . . Anyway, here is my list.

Sandy Springs, GA (although it certainly wasn't it's own city back then!)
Griffin, GA
Macon, GA (where I met Rapunzel :D )
Atlanta, GA
Marietta, GA

Bogalusa?? I know where that is....how? and why? lol...:idontno:

Let's see. North of Lake Ponchatrain, paper mill town (Stinks like crazy), civil rights marches in the early 60's, good football team in the mid 60's, sits on the edge of the Pearl River, John Goodman's wife (Still married to her???) is from there, pine trees, home of the Great Southern Lumber Company (predecessor of the paper mill) that cut a million board feet of virgin pine lumber day in day out for years on end back in the 20's.

Other than that, just me and Ms Seaside.

Oh yeah, Johnny Earles of Criolla is from there. Maybe that's it.

Or is it me?

The first 21 years:
Warren, Ohio
though every summer (I was shipped off 2-3 months at a time)
it was either:
Atlanta, Ga
Jacksonville, FL
Monterey, Big Sur, Carmel, Seaside California
West Hollywood, CA
The last 22+ years:
Eglin AFB, FL
Niceville, FL
Fort Walton Beach, FL
Shalimar, FL
Navarre, FL
Kunsan, South Korea
San Antonio, TX (2nd home)

My family left Warren(out) Ohio right after I did and moved to

(Sea)Side Note;
I've been to three Seasides.
Seaside Florida (of course)
Seaside California (Monterey area)
and last but not least
Seaside Oregon. (Which, from what I saw of it was a lot like
Panama City Beach, but different.)

now i be trippin' down memory lane........

Never been, but now I am curious, what is the special smell? Ocean, pine trees? Clean air?

The reason I asked about the trees, we have Disney Vacation Club and we use it alot at Disney's Hilton Head Resort which is located on an island at Shelter Cove. When we first visited, I was so impressed with the smell and I could not quite describe it.

I ask a local naturalist that took us out for a dophin watch and he said it is a mix of salt air and very clean air due to the fact that the majority of trees on the resort island are Pine.

That pine, larch, and silver birch trees have the greatest potential to improve air quality.

So thereafter when I get to the resort and take a deep breath, it was the smell of clean fresh air. Something never heard of in Memphis.

I guess in Eugene it's all the trees, smells very "fresh"

Of course with all the rain they get there I guess everything is always fresh.
