A question for those of you who consider yourselves Christian. How many consider yourself a Christian first and utmost, and a citizen of The USA second??

let's examine christians who hold public hearings on capitol hill asking muslims to be patriotic when they themselves put god before country? hmmm? so the question remains? do you put your king james god before your fellow man, and do i have "faith" that you are not undermining our constitution?
Those "christians" don't share my religion or my god. Many Muslims do. Many Jews do. Many Buddhists do. Most of the people who wrote our Constitution did.

Not all grey things are elephants.
Just because I'm grey doesn't mean my name is Babar.

You know, there was a time not too long ago when many traditional Protestant denominations were firm in their beliefs that Catholics could never be good Americans because they claimed their faith required them to put being an American second to being a good Catholic.
I'm just sayin' it's a far more complex historical question than it seems at first glance.

If you're planning to die, let us know. I'll send flowers, because it's the good "Christian" thing to do... ;-)
It could also be the good Jewish, Muslim, Islamic, Atheist, Buddhist, etc. thing to do.

Bob, it sounds like you are concerned about the actions of the governor more than the god/country issue which may/may not be part of the solution. If you focus on what the laws might be concerning this issue, you might be able to find a venue for upholding our constitutional rights; or, if necessary, changing any unjust laws to provide justice and liberty for all. It's the irritating grain of sand in the oyster that makes the pearl.

Mommy talk: We have a right, with wisdom, to defend ourselves, our families, our country, and to extend this to our fellowman. This right is God-given. We are also granted the freedom of will to choose good or evil, but God encourages us to choose good as we do with our children. As you already know, there is no freedom without a fight. 😀
To not defend yourself is stupid, would you not want your own child to stand up for himself?(rhetorical)
Since you brought up faith and the playground, I would just like to add that faith has more to do with the Father/ child relationship with God in that He wants you to believe He loves you, than with our responsibility to enact justice and liberty for all. People seem to overlook the fact that man was given dominion over the earth by God, in Genesis somewhere. We will be rewarded or held accountable for our actions whether good or evil, just as we reward or hold our children accountable. Who here has sent their children to hell for not doing their homework? Ridiculous thought. This is not hard to understand. Do we think God is so stupid that he cannot see every aspect of what we go through and is going to reward us from that perspective?(again rhetorical)
Looks like the ball is in your court 😀

Indeed. Hence the quotation marks. Perhaps I should have added the :sarc: to make clear my intent.
did i scare off the righteous?
Not righteous. You asked questions, I provided answers. I have very simple views on life, and faith. I think of myself as a human being, living on this planet with lots of other human beings.
We have a government. I respect that government, and follow their laws. If I went to another country, they would have a different government. I would offer them the same respect.
I think that you're asking the wrong question (on purpose, to stir the pot, naturally). You seem to want to know what people feel about the separation of church and state. I don't like that people use religion as a soapbox to stand upon to push forward personal agendas. I wish other people felt the same, although I won't hold my breath.
But I also believe in a benevolent God who has granted me free will, and that means that I'm free to think and feel what I want to think and feel and believe. And you get to think and feel what you want to think and feel and believe.
