A question for those of you who consider yourselves Christian. How many consider yourself a Christian first and utmost, and a citizen of The USA second??

Basically Jesus said it best when asked about paying taxes to Ceasar.
?Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar?s, and unto God the things that are God?s?
Scooter said it very well, just as all humans are not the same, all men not the same, women, polticians, etc. etc. all Christians do not fit one mold. I can't believe anyone would be so narrow minded to think all Christians are the same.
And it's not that some are afraid to answer or retribution it's just that at times the same old same old, gets............well old.
The original spin master. Even Jesus was for separation of church and state.

For such a simple, direct question, I've been really pondering my answer: I don't gauge my response to what life brings to me in terms of allegiance to either one of these "concepts". (The phrase "nothing to kill or die for" echoes in my mind right now.) I try to assess what each of these concepts asks of me, day to day, and determine what is right or wrong, from what I feel is right and wrong. I'm under the opinion that if we strip away what proponents of either one of these concepts tell us, we inherently know what is right and wrong. The proponents of either one of these concepts distracts us so far from really living fully moral lives.
______
If this question is more politician/Rick Scott based, politicians have been professing to be "religious" from the beginning of politics. It's a sham that is truly hard to expose since it's all about what you "believe". I believe politicians will say anything to be "believed".

You know what's right and wrong. Neither God nor the Constitution should have anything to do with it. "Nothing to kill or die for".
Basically Jesus said it best when asked about paying taxes to Ceasar.logic is tough stuff isn't it?

What is the answer you would give, you started the thread: God first or country first?my country, but not right or wrong. philosophy, not religion helps me deal with my mortality. my only fear is that your "loving" religion wants to control everyone's lives.

I meant like Forrest Gump dumb.
Let me see if I am following what you are saying:
The standard for right and wrong without God's word(the bible) is?
A. Murderers
B. Victims
C. Annihilation
Example: First family in the bible: the brother that didn't please God(Cain) killed the brother(Abel) that did please God.
The standard for right and wrong without the Constitution would be?
A. Fascism
B. Dictatorships
C. Anarchy
E.g. Middle East
Nothing to kill or die for, no religion too, sold alot of albums, but it is not going to happen that way. Unfortunately and ironically, John lennon was murdered.
Just curious what you say the standard would be without God/Constitution:idontno:

Bob that's funny :lolabove:

Fear(false evidence appearing real) can be eliminated through knowledge and action.
We can sit on the bench or get in the game- our choice.😀

I hear what you are saying but careful to judge. Many here and elsewhere use religion to further their spirituality and help provide a structure and a philosophy for life. It can be useful.
But when we think that we actually know all the answers, based on what our religion has taught us, we are very shortsighted.
I don't know the answer to your question and I never will.

It can be useful. For not knowing the answer, you gave a very logical, thoughtful one to the question, IMHO. The question itself is ludicrous and I do not believe there is a right or wrong answer or even a logical one. It is the individual's concept of what is important in life and it only, in the end, applies to him/her.
But when we think that we actually know all the answers, based on what our religion has taught us, we are very shortsighted.

Why is the question ludicrous?
You're a military guy, Andy. Isn't there a hierarchy of-
unit-corp-god-country (Marines)
Are they ludicrous for taking a stab at it?

somebody drilled that stuff into their skulls so they could focus on the mission (country). every business needs to know their mission. including the business of government.

Carnival 2011 - Alan Taylor - In Focus - The Atlantic
Religion gives people a reason to celebrate life and death and provides hope for those that have none. For that reason alone it has a prolific positive influence in our lives, even for those that don't believe.
As far as government is concerned, our Constitution spells out it's involvement in federal policy quite clearly. I don't see what the big deal is.

Politicians are always trying to change things. I was recently told I had to purchase private insurance because I'm not trusted to handle that aspect of my life on my own. A few years ago somebody told me I couldn't gamble online because I can't handle the responsibility. If somebody tries to tell me I have to attend church or follow a particular religious doctrine, I'd be equally offended. That's why we have a Constitution and Court that upholds it. We just have to make sure we put the right people on that court, some politicians think they can change things without a vote through who they nominate. We can prevent that as well by electing the right politicians to higher office.
