Is everything as we once knew it closed or about to?

I'm sorta feeling that way too.

331 & Seabar will be closing due to the construction on the roads & bridge. I know, it SUCKS!!! I love both places. But there is some talk of moving 331 because of the way it is constructed, allows for movablity. I know the owners are looking for land, but the bay was just perfect. But this one is out of their hands.

Welcome to my world. Being a native down here, my heart has broken over and over and over as places change and people come and go. :roll:

For example, this is how I feel about the Seagrove Village Market. Not only is it good food...but I stood behind that cash register many an hour as a teenager and young adult a couple of decades ago. Back then, one could work and play. Lots of fun(n) and good memories!

Vladi def. told us about Sea Bar and 331 last summer. I remember it clearly. I thought he said last summer was the last summer.

Every summer is the last summer. ;-)

There are no funds for the 331 bridge, but it will move forward somehow (bonds and tolls). The State says it has to be totally elevated from bank to bank with no causeway as it is now. So 2 new spans with 2 lanes each are needed. I don't know if they will remove the current causeway which would add even more expense.

I guess acquiring right of way could still happen even before funds are in place for construction.

Removing the causeway would be a REAL bummer. My grandfather was the captain of the dredge that dug the canal and pumped the fill, and that's how my mommy came to Point Washington and met my daddy. Not to mention, nearly 50 years later, my husband and I became engaged while fishing at the causeway.

Oh, and everybody else wouldn't have a place to lauch boats or buy shrimp from the boats or fish...
