You had to pay duty????????????? OMG I am so impressed. I'm telling Merman he needs to take me on a duty trip for my next birthday. I wanna pay duty!!!

I'm glad you're home.

I am guessing this will be brought up when I start hinting about a little something for our 30th anniversary and my bday in July. But, really it was Mr. K's fault!!! :D I think he enjoyed me shopping somewhere other than Target! I have to say the Customs agent was so hysterical about the whole thing. When we were sitting on the plane adding up our receipts, I sat back while Mr. K did the math converting euors to dollars. Remember, that we are probably the most honest Americans when it comes to declaring purchases, as I am truly afraid of prison life. I did not see the "real" cost of things until we were standing in front of him, me feeling like I had been sent to the principal. He took off the books and chocolates, since these items were exempt. I kept moaning and the agent was telling me ro relax, "it's only money" :rotfl: . When handing over the tax, I asked where the money goes. Our agent and the lady agent collecting the money both laughed and said..."the general fund of the United States Government" or the "black hole" as Mr. Kitty calls it. :lolabove: They said that you would not believe how many people think they get to keep the money!

 ...thanks Mermy and friends...there truly is no place like home!

I was impressed with you when you said you paid duty, but now my impression has hit the stratosphere.

You bought books?

I thought you said you and Mr. K were in some ferrin' parts?

Don't them ferrin' places speak ferrin' languages?

So what's in these books you bought. :dunno:

Are you buying picture books? :dunno:

I hear ya. Last time we went to Italy, we had to fly into Munich because we couldn't get three first-class FF seats on any flight to Italy (D is too big to travel coach). BJ needed a nice bow (really makes a difference in the sound), so we visited a geigenbaumeister in Munich and bought three pernambuco bows, one for each of us, at a couple of thousand dollars each. Thanks to the big purchase, getting through customs in ATL added a lot of time to our getting out of the airport since we had to stand in line forever to pay tax. We probably could have lied and no one would have known how valuable the bows are, but we didn't feel comfortable lying. I, too, am afraid of prison.:yikes:

Glad you're home safely and that you had a good time!

 ...thanks y'all! I am officially back after driving to Waco in the freaking pouring, blinding rain where I was almost killed twice. Molly was sad to leave her sissy, but is so hap hap happy to be home! Some of you knew about this... Molly came down with a stomach bacteria while we were gone and sarafunn rose to the occasion and got Molly to a vet in Austin and nursed her back to health. Apparently, the carpet in sarafunn's apt. has been smothered in Oxyclean. I showered sarafunn with gifts from our travels. :D

Mr. K has sent me some lovely pics of Lake Como, maybe I will send them to my gotogull, Darlene and she can post them! ;-)
