is it a blanket letter, or one tailored to you outlining compensation package, start date etc? IANAL, but you may have a case if a written offer was made...

The funny thing is- they have no idea that my dad owns a major company and knows the laws... and has lawyers. I also find this odd considering one of the employees was telling me yesterday how you shouldn't burn bridges in this town because word gets around fast.
Well, good, I hope word gets around as to how they treated me.
I did nothing to deserve this. They know this isn't about money on my end. Thank god I have an amazing family that can support me in these rough times. Otherwise- I'd seriously be homeless because of this.
I had a salary and a start date of Sept. 4.
My last day at my current job is the 20th.

Unfortunately, Florida is an at-will employment state where employees pretty much have zero rights in a lot of areas. And there are a lot of really lousy employers down here who know they can treat people however they want without facing consequences.
You've still got a family that from what you've said seems to love you and will support you in doing what you need to succeed.

Not a vacation at all- more like a big stress bucket. Nothing else is in place now- because why sign a lease for a house next to a job I used to have. So literally, I am homeless in one week. Awesome.

So sorry about this. You say that you are employeed with your current employer until the 20th. Would they be willing to extend your time with them until you find something else? At least you would still be getting a paycheck with them. I am a firm believer in something good always comes out of something bad. So perhaps something better will come along. Good luck to you.
Ha- the thing is- my boss dosen't want to lose me. BUT- I am being replaced by an intern I had trained there- and he's moving up from Florida to take my job.

sorry, i thought you had your housing in place. i think there's a nice little bungalow on the bay that's empty, but you'd have to fence in the yard. others on this board have lived there...
The whole point of my 2 day visit was to find housing... I guess this was just my "bonus" for being a good employee and trying to get the paperwork done early.
