Oh wow, this is absolutely horrible. I feel for you. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice other than what others have offered.

You have dodged a bullet for sure. Good luck to you.

NOTHING aggrivates me more than when a job drags out offering you a position for over 2 months - finally offers you a position after they keep saying they will call- but don't- you resign from your amazing job you've had for 3 years, break your lease and basically pay $5G  to do so, lose the best roommate you've ever had  - only to talk to your new company for over 1 1/2hrs going over your employment handbook/filling out w2's, to then proceed to hunt for homes like a madwoman, to then have the bosses hubby call you to tell you they've resigned their offer knowing full-and-well everything you've done to make yourself available to them.

I've lost my job/career.
I've lost my home.
All I will have is these cute dogs and no where to go... :dunno:

Un-friggin-believable.:bang:

Isn't it a bit late for that? How unethical can you be?
Seriously- it's against the law to do this.
But frankly- I now feel I have dodged a bullet.
Too bad too- some employees were quite nice. I really enjoyed talking to them.

So- if anyone needs some freelance design OR a decent artist/art assisant for any reason- I am currently available ... unfortunately.

Help a girl out! I've never been this much of a mess in my life.

P.S. I had fun meeting SBartoldus and Potato Vixen last night ;-) Thx for saying 'Hi!'

:eek::yikes::cry:!!! :angry::dunno:

Holy sh** girl! That is freakin awful!!! It is their loss and now they have a huge karmic no-no to work out. I got your back girl, if ya need anything.

Holy cow- they just sent me a letter basically saying how sorry they were and how the reason this happened is because 2 highly valued employees recently left them and this made them feel weary of hiring anyone else into the company. So he even says it wasn't my fault. Way to incriminate yourself...

I am sorry, but that makes no sense at all!!!! I mean, you loose 2 employees, then basically hire another employee, then tell that employee you can't hire her because of the 2 employees that left you. WTF????????????

They just hired 2 other people along with me. Still- makes no sense.

FYI- I am a VERY loyal employee. I have been at my current company for 3 years and have worked well over the expected 40+ work week and I love it. My boss says I have been an "invaluable asset" and have handled myself in a more than professional manner by giving more than a 3 week notice. He is even throwing me a going away party this Tues. I don't think I have the heart to tell them what has happened to me. My secretary already gets weepy when we talk about me leaving...

I think you should notify your current employer in Atlanta (is that where it is?) and let them know what's going on. This is something that you had no control over. Who knows, they might make some arrangements for you to return in a new or different position. This is a case of why we don't burn any bridges.

The funny thing is- they have no idea that my dad owns a major company and knows the laws...

Beachmouse is right about Florida employment...there's probably a statement in the employee's booklet you've got. They can let someone go for no reason whatsoever at the drop of a hat (of course the employee can walk out as well). http://www.akers-boswell.com/yl/atwill.html

Why not get a job at your dad's company?
