Then vote Republican! Except for the doobie, these are all R talking points.

Welcome to the Republican Party.:welcome:

Its the social issues and mantras of the Repub platform I can't handle, now mostly it is the Palin drag. But, hey, thanks--I love to be invited to things!

I stopped blaming Bush last month for everything--you barely hear from the guy after he socialized the U.S Banking System. [I now prefer to blame all my current misfortunes on Mediacom.]

Question : How far back can we go in Presidential history to find the root cause of the sum total of all of today's problems? don't have an answer. But, if there is a pic of Bush cutting down a Cherry tree, I want it!!!!:D

Jefferson secretly encouraged Genet to undermine Washington in Washington's 2nd term, partly due to Jefferson's irrational hatred of Hamilton, if I recall correctly. So, to answer your question, a while.

Right here!
I'd like to see the things on your list happen too. I paid a huge tax bill last year and would LOVE a bigger tax break. But really how do you get the things on your shopping list and pay less taxes? Bush might have been the only President to take us to war and give people a tax break at the same time. Wars cost money, bridges are falling down, the Social Security surplus was misappropriated and someone has to pay these bills. If you want the services the government offers, someone has to help me pay.

Well, if we elliminate the debt, that shaves about 300 billion in interest payments. That's a start. Reform SS, Medicare and Medicaid might shave something off the 1.2 trillion we spend there. Ending the war in Iraq and Afghanistan would save a few hundred billion. From there, just grab and axe, and start chopping - we really don't spend that much on a lot of the items in that list -

^^ warning, really really big image. A summary of income vs. expenditures is on the lower right.

OK, so we got a list from one person on things to accomplish. Not answering the "what do you want our country to be" but it is a start.
No one responded with an idea on how to accomplish any of them, no one answered as to how either candidate would be the best to help us make these changes.

Nope, it immediately broke down into finger pointing, blaming and negative projections for the next four years. :bang:

"Kids, stop slapping each other."
"He slapped me first."
"Only because you called me a name."

Really, if we can't get past this 4th grade crap, we are going to be speaking a different language and singing someone else's national anthem.

Agreed.

It is safe to say that half the country will be upset on November 5th. So first of all, let's all wish for a decisive win one way or the other because I genuinely hope we will be spared a contested election.....

So even if my guy (Obama) does not win on Nov 4th, I hope that after my brief period of inevitable wallowing in self pity. despair and sadness - I hope I will be able to do whatever I can to support the next administration EVEN if I think that McCain's policies are not necessarily right - because to right this polarizing track we are on we are going to need to be united. cohesive and coherent as a nation. None of us should be wishing failure on the next President. There is just too much to be done and too much to be corrected and too much we all agree on.
