American Idol 2009

I haven't been watching too much of American Idol due to the fact that there have been college hoops games on that I've had an interest in that were on at the same time. It's hard to get me away from SEC hoops and I missed about half of the Vandy Kentucky game tonight due to Idol but Idol was pretty good tonight.

I was really impressed by Ricky Braddy, our hometown Memphis girl Alexis Grace, and Anoop Desai, or Anoop Dog as he likes to be called. They all 3 have great voices. I like Michael Sawer also, he has a fairly good voice, his performance tonight was not bad, I had to vote for him also.

I was not impressed at all by Stevie Wright, she was not good at all, nor was Casey Carlson who sang a Police song. Ann Marie Boskovich from Nashville was not very good, Stephen Fowler totally messed up and I was not impressed with Tatiana Del Toro either. I do like Danny Gokey, however, I do not think he was the best I had heard tonight.

They have changed the way they are doing things this year, having 3 groups of twelve and only 3 moving on out of each group. I did not watch hardly any of Idol last year so they may have done this way last year.

I think that Danny's got an excellent voice, but I get the feeling I'm going to utterly despise every single one of his song choices unless he surprises me by going with a double of "I Touch Myself" and "Add It Up" on Top 5 Alternative Music night or something like that.

I have no memory of what Jackie Toth sang. I just remember she stole Olivia Newton-John's pants from Grease.

Tatiana sounded surprisingly good tonight, even if she still gave off a certain 'I'm a stalker' vibe.

I thought Ann Marie sounded better than what the judges gave her credit for.

I've thought a little more about the song choice thing. Do y'all think they really get to pick the songs? Wasn't there some discussion about this last year? I seriously don't think some of them would have picked those songs. Wasn't it suggested that maybe the producers pick the songs knowing that it will showcase some and not others?

He was the best, I thought. Alexis was good too. The others...eh...forgettable.

hey, I thought Alexis was good, too. Very surprised at her.
The church music director was definitely the best. Good control. Just hope he can tone down his minister persona a bit.

I think Tatiana is going to get the "vote for the worst" vote just to keep her certifiable crazy self on. Simon will get tired of it and start making her cry, then get ready for the melt down.

Alexis was the stand out. She sang as well as any other AI contestant ever has. Ricky Braddy was good and the rest were disappointing. I think Danny Gokey had a bad night. Bad song choice.

Say goodbye (hopefully) to Tatiana. :shock:

Last night in one word: pitchy.

However, Alexis sounded like a pro and looked like a star!
