Actually, the Vatican forbade any Church in Rome from allowing the movie to be shot inside....
That doesn't surprise me. The last time I was in Paris the church near our hotel was the very one figured in The DaVinci Code. St. Surplice I think? Anyway, there was a very terse and pointed message in one of the side chapels stating that The DaVinci Code was a work of fiction that had nothing to do with the church whatsoever. The Catholic church is not ennamoured of Dan Brown.

My son read both of these books while we were on vacation 2 years ago. (Yes, he was THAT bored and to be with his parents in the Bahamas, no less :rollHe said he loved the Davinci Code but after he finished Angels and Demons, he liked it so much more.
He's read the other books of Dan Brown's too and says they're just as good. It almost sounds as if the DC was his weakest book.
