Actually, the Vatican forbade any Church in Rome from allowing the movie to be shot inside....

That doesn't surprise me. The last time I was in Paris the church near our hotel was the very one figured in The DaVinci Code. St. Surplice I think? Anyway, there was a very terse and pointed message in one of the side chapels stating that The DaVinci Code was a work of fiction that had nothing to do with the church whatsoever. The Catholic church is not ennamoured of Dan Brown.

Isn't most of Angels & Demons about a terrorist blowing up the Vatican?
Shock that the Church isn't clamoring to have that one made!

Since most of it is set in Rome and the Vatican (including areas only accessible via private tours) it would be very hard to recreate.

SJ, you should read Deception Point too!

You got that right! The spokesperson said that they never even read the script. They saw his name and nixed it on the spot...

My son read both of these books while we were on vacation 2 years ago. (Yes, he was THAT bored and to be with his parents in the Bahamas, no less ) He said he loved the Davinci Code but after he finished Angels and Demons, he liked it so much more.

He's read the other books of Dan Brown's too and says they're just as good. It almost sounds as if the DC was his weakest book. :dunno:
.

I loved Angels and Demons which I read first; Davinci Code was good, but not as great. I look forward to seeing the movie!
