We are considering buying one but they are so expensive although the very few people I know who own one swear they have never slept better. Anyone care to pipe in?

a friend at work bought one and he swears by it, said they didn't realize how bad they were sleeping until they got one. i'd like to have one too, but just can't bring myself to pay the money for it.

I can tell you how to justify the expense if the mattress is really the answer for you. Let's say the you are purchasing the Celebrity model Tempur-pedic (the most expensive) in a Queen, which will cost you $3000. Add $300 for the "foundation mattress" giving you a total cost of $3300 + tax (lets say 6%) which would then be roughly $3500 out of pocket. Typically, mattresses have a life span of about ten years. Ten years equates to approx. 3652 days.
Divide the cost of the mattresses by the number of nights you could potentially sleep on it, and you get a cost per night of only $0.96. If your mattress last longer, your cost per night decrease.

I know this may be very simplistic, but it does show you the true cost. Most people probably spend more money per day on Coke products. Which is more important to you? ( I am not a mattress salesperson.):D

We never get new beds in my family. Cameron is probably sleeping on the bed that my mother was concieved in...my grandmother is sleeping in my bed from college (god bless her) I'm in the bed that I grew up with and my parents have always had the same rock hard mattress.

I do like to think I have the most comfortable and broken in bed in NYC though. It's been around forever.

Coil Mattresses aren't made to last anymore. :bang: So maybe these newer foam mattresses are the way to go.

I could write a thesis on the general principle of manufacturers making products last just long enough to outlast the warranty, but I will refrain. :D
