In apparent defense of the ad, Absolut stated that the ad was targeted to Mexican consumers not those in the US. Apparently, Absolut has never heard of YouTube or the Web...
According to Reuters, a company spokeswoman posted this on the Absolut website, apparently in an attempt to restore calm and credibility:
?Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal.?

I suppose this means that when Absolut ads are run in the UK, it will show a map of the UK plus the original thirteen colonies? :funn:
