Be careful with the protein bars - some of them are total diet busters due to fat/calorie content.

Yogurt (again check the labels for fat and sugars) is also a good snack w/ health benefits.

I surfed through some diet reality show and the trainer lady was making people drink water w/ a dash of lemon juice - dunno why, but she said it was so much better than just water (which at 0 calories or preservatives I find hard to beat). Anyone know? :dunno:

It's supposed to work as a mild diuretic and may promote peristalsis.
My friend, who was trying to loose weight, also added cayenne pepper to her lemon & water...cayenne pepper is also a diet spice, included in the fat flush diet....curbs the appetite

I think that the only way to eat healthily is to cook at home so that you are totally in control of ingredients. That's really difficult when you work full time.

Breakfast and lunch are pretty easy. Breakfast -- fruit and cereal or egg substitute and whole grain toast. For me the only fast food that works for lunch is Subway -- turkey sandwich with mustard as the only condiment.

Dinner is where it gets difficult for me because I don't know of any place in our town where one can find a healthy dinner. I'm excluding fast food because a grilled chicken sandwich doesn't satisfy me at dinner. And I'm usually too tired at the end of the day to cook and wash dishes, even though hubby helps.

I get the protein bars that have high protein but decent amounts of fiber and fat but don't like to eat them all of the time but it's an easy option on busy work days.

I've heard for years to use organic maple syrup, fresh lemon juice and cayenne pepper in your water to detox and flush you. I've tried it before and it doesn't taste too bad if you don't use too much cayenne! I need to give that a whirl again!!

I had mojo piquant pork loin chops with rice and black beans for dinner with fresh pineapple for dessert tonight-tasty.

I'm a convert to Fage's 2% and 0% fat greek yogurt. High in protein, and no weird ingredients. Get the plain version and then just add a little bit of good honey or preserves to sweeten. (I like Fresh Market's blueberry jam) You'll end up with far less sugar or artificial sweetners than you get in pre-flavored yogurts.

Good luck! I am going to start my workout program and try to eat better starting tomorrow too! I too have been eating whatever I want and drinking a little too much since halloween. It starts out with all the candy the kids have. I like chocolate, what can I say! I will be working out at home using some video tapes that have worked in the past from Beach Body. I also have a treadmill and will try to walk some days. What is this fat flush diet, Allifunn?? I will have to look that one up. I find it hard to stick to a rigid diet though, I don't have the best will power.

I have been on a SEEFOOD diet for the last 3 months . Combined with not working since September, I have gained 10 lbs. I am going to cut way back on sugar and fat too, and I am going to exercise 5 to 6 days a week. I didn't realize how many calories I was burning when I was working until I put on the weight. The cayenne capsules sounds like a good idea, I may have to try that. Good luck BeachBum Aggie, on your heathier eating and exercise regimen. I know you will feel better , and I know I will too. I have eaten healthy and exercised for several years, then fell off the band wagon and it has caught up with me. If I lived in SoWal I would ride my bike everyday ,as I did this weekend when I was there. It was so much fun.

I started losing weight when I got serious about eating nutrient rich real food, staying away from packaged food and cutting down on my sugar intake. Except for special occasions my sugar comes from fruit and really dark chocolate (Green & Black organic 85%). I'm sure that months ago, the 85% would have tasted too bitter to me, but it's true that your tastes change if your diet changes. I heard someone say that if a raw apple does not taste sweet to you; then, you need to re-program your palate. I eat a lot & am never hungry because I eat every 3 to 4 hrs., but I also exercise. I'd love to help anyone interested (free advice) as I have made many nutritional mistakes in the past: the best was eating a huge white bagel in the afternoon (plain of course) & wondering why I was starving at dinner!
