get over it! My god! Have you nothing better to do than smear a biz because they made a small error and god forbid you couldnt eat there. Some people have nothing better to do...at all. And the rest of the people who largely dont live here in sowal are rooting to smear a local biz. This site has become a joke! I guess you all never make mistakes.....please. Get a life!
First of all, my intent was never to ruin a local business whether in SoWal or in Nebraska. I realize the heart to the city is local businesses. I came asking advice from people who are customers and owners what should be done. You will notice that I never used the name of the restaurant because I?m aware of a minute number of Nebraskans who use this board.

I?m assuming that the reason for the tone of your response is because you felt I was attacking a local restaurant, which wasn?t the case. My regret is I used the name of Caf? Thirty A when comparing the caliber of the restaurant. For that confusion, I?m truly sorry. :D

Second, as someone who has owned a small local business I would like to know if a customer felt they were treated unfairly as opposed to that customer disappearing. I would hope to get a chance to correct the situation. I?m hoping that the owner thinks about new methods when taking reservations, i.e. taking a phone number. I also believe the owner needs to be aware of the customer?s feelings. Please refer to Kat?s response above. There are many local restaurants to choose from and we chose this one. Unfortunately, we were unable to dine there. Fortunately, we went to another local restaurant and had a wonderful dinner.

Thank you for all the responses. I have chosen to write a letter to the restaurant with contact information for them to respond. I?ll let you know how it goes.

I am wondering why this thread hasn't moved to the Lounge? Why is there a discussion about a dining experience in Nebraska being discussed on a board about SoWal?

Read the poster's quote below.

First of all this experience was not in the SoWal area. I decided that because of all the people with restaurant experience that post I would get some great ideas.

My husband (NE Sowallr) and I had dinner reservations for 8:15 at a local upscale restaurant on Saturday night. Think Cafe 30-A. We were celebrating his birthday.

When we arrived at the restaurant I gave the host our name and was informed that there was no reservation. Then a gentleman came over stating that the reservation had been cancelled and they were unable to call. I was fairly calm with this gentleman, as he was only the messenger. I felt sorry for him, he looked mortified. The owner had left a gift certificate for us, barely enough to cover an entree at this restaurant.

We made this reservation on Monday. But a private party was being held during the time of our reservation. I can't imagine this party was booked in 2-3 days.

So at 8:15 on a Saturday night we have to find a restaurant that had available seating.:dunno:

So here is where I need help. I will be calling the owner, what do I need to say to let him know that I think the situation was handled poorly without sounding petty. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Any more questions, ASW??????

I am wondering why kkbbdd keeps reading and posting if he/she finds Sowal and its members so distasteful and dumb. :dunno:

Surely it's not because kkbbdd has a simple mind.......like us ole Hawgs.....;-)
