Moved to this paradise from Mississippi two months ago. So far better than we imagined.

Any guidance on obtaining a beach permit would be much appreciated.:dunno:

Unless things have changed since last year...you would go to the tax collectors office on Hwy 331 and present the following items: Proof of property ownership in Walton County, Proof of a registered, insured 4 Wheel Drive Vehicle and the money for the permit. It used to be $105 per year (i think)..but I am not sure now. Also the permits expire June 1st of each year...so if you get one now..you will have to get another one by June 1st. Don't hold me to every bit of this...but this is what was required last year when i renewed mine.

sorry the beach driving permits went away 6 weeks ago.no more will be issued and those that have are grandfathered in. if you forget to renew tough luck can't get back. i rushed in days before to get one. over the years the #'s will drop as people forget to renew or move or die.

Thanks Ray and Shellysphoto

Oh well, probably get all stuck anyway. Did they decide that there was too little sand and too many tricks or is this an effort to ultimately ban the activity.

From what I understand they are attempting to limit the number of vehicles on the beach.

The person who pushed the new rule as written to help reduce the number of autos on the beach also hopes to open a pay per use parking lot in Grayton, from what I understand.

So was it Jay Odom or Lloyd Blue behind this ordinance?

Who would that be? I'm still too new to all this "unwritten" knowledge about the people that "control" this county.
