My eyes are watering just readin this!!!

Yeah, mine watered too - LOL (I can laugh now, but it hurt pretty bad and the lid swelled up so much I had to put ice on it.) Right after it happened, I went over to a friend's house and I told her what happened, then she said to me, "Oh my God, they won't grow back will they?" I almost believed her - then it hit me that we lose eyelashes all the time, so, of course, they must grow back. It took about 6 weeks.

Glad they did!

I was in a car accident when I was 18 and nearly lost my eye. I'll spare y'all the gory details but when my head hit the windshield it scraped off part of my eyebrow and a little part of my eyelid. My eyebrow grew back just fine but there's part of my eyelid where I'm missing a small patch of lashes. You probably wouldn't notice it if I didn't point it out to you. Anyway, there are a few lashes that try to grow in but they never grow in the right way. They grow in towards my eye and I have to pull them out with tweezers. It hurts a little but I'm used to it. Maybe the nerves are damaged in that area too. I've tried having them permanently removed but so far that hasn't worked.

So sorry about the accident. I've had that eyelash problem; have had to go to the opthomologist for it.

In Denver I got my eyelashes tinted, when you enjoy swimming as I do it just makes sense. I go to Merle Norman here in Port St Joe to get the lashes tinted, but the dye is not quite as good, so neither is the effect. But there is no place else to go. So I supplement with mascara, I just happened to have Clinique because I like their lipsticks and got the mascara free.

I think all the opthamologist did was pull them out too. So that's what I started doing myself..easier than going to the Dr.
How long does the eye lash tinting last? My lashes are blonde and short so I think I would still need mascara to lengthen them.

This isn't really a bargain...but I have this mascara that people have been flipping out over. I get more compliments on my eyelashes...it's nuts. It's being featured in Shop ETC. bc an editor died over my eyelashes.

Anyhoo...it's Trish McEvoy Lash Curling Mascara in Jet Black.
I swear by it.
Kimmi, did you have this on for NYE? Cause, no lie, I was floored by your lashes in the pics. After staring at them, I finally decided you'd decided to go all out for the big night and had on falsies--I guess not! Wow. Amazing.

I have had my eyelashes dyed for years. In the beginning it lasted about a week or two. Now it lasts about five weeks. I have also had permanent eyeliner done. It is very subtle and I absolutely love it!

Landlocked, tell us how your alternative beauty product is working for your hands. :dunno:;-)
SJ, interesting you'd mention this today--I was just thinking about your concoction! Al Roker mentioned on the "Today" show that he uses Burt's Bees to keep his hands from chapping, and my stream of consciousness led me to remembering your hand remedy!
Whew.

I discovered Trish McEvoy products last year because the place I go for micro-peels sells it and I wanted to try it. I just love it all! I replaced ALL my makeup with it. It is a whole system, including a case to keep everything organized, tools (brushes, etc), and every kind of make up, etc. I didn't buy everything at once, it's as expensive as Lancome or most Dept store brands, but the tools and case add a lot more to the price.

The products are simple and clean, and give you a really natural, healthy look.

Of course, the micro-peels (which I just started last year) really help in skin appearance, and using Obagi facial products work wonders! When you are in your 40's you start trying this kind of crap! It's pricey, but worth it! especially if you are just interested in keeping your skin healthy - like I am - because I do not plan to have surgical stuff done later on when the wrinkles and bags really start to set in...
