Does it curl up as well? Mine does. I like it though. I've already decided that I could never do the snowbird routine to any place that didn't have a healthy dose of humidity. I hate it when the air's dry--my hair goes flat flat flat. :sosad:

Any good recs for shampoos and conditioners, anyone??

I really like Bumble & Bumble products - all of them! the new B & B Coco shampoo and conditioner products are my absolute favorite. I've used a lot of Aveda, but it doesn't do it for me.

The wonderful Funns gave me a present of soap from Pachouli's at Gulf Place. It's not labelled as facial soap, but it's mild enough to use it as that, as I have been. Even with dry winter weather, this handmade soap is doing a first-rate job. :rotfl: (The soap's label is my avatar this month.)

hey Mer:

we absolutely LIVE on a locally made soap made by the Soap Peddlar - and refuse to buy any others! You can find it at Pachouli's, For the Health of It, and other places in Sowal. It's wonderful, non-drying, and different flavors... Peach Creek is our favorite.

I'll have to try that 'flavor' next! I know the next time we're in SoWal, I'm definitely stocking up. :clap_1:

Cetaphil is a fantastic substitute for soap and it is used by all the top beauties, apparently. Only $8 for a 16-oz. plastic bottle and you can purchase it at practically any supermarket or drugstore. It's a white bottle with a royal blue label. I stopped using soap on my face when I began using this stuff, which moisturizes as it cleans, and my skin has never looked better. I wouldn't be without it.
It is great stuff, and if you need to exfoliate, you add a little baking soda to it and make a scrub. It works great. My medicine cabinet used to have a bottle of Cetaphil next to a box of baking soda! Now I need a little more "help" than that.

I have been making soap for four years now. You should try some homemade soap. If the soap has the proper mix of oils, it will be a wonder on the face. Some people use too much coconut oil (which creates a great lather) and it causes the skin to feel dry. I cannot think of the last time I bought detergents disguised as "soap." All of the glycerine (natural moisturizer) is removed. That is why Dove adds moisturizer and tricks you into thinking that you are getting more. I don't sell my soaps, so please don't start asking.
SJ, I have bad luck with bar soap, and I have tried and tried over the years. I have found a couple of facial soaps that work fine, but every time I try a "traditional" glycerine soap, for example, I'm always disappointed. I always find they leave too much of a film on the skin, for example. Now we use only body washes--very few of them ever feel drying. Do you have any commercial soaps you can recommend?

www.makeupalley.com is an excellent place to read reviews for beauty products of all kinds.

Mermaid, this was the business I was in for years and your recommendation for www.makeupalley.com is an excellent one. They rate just about all of the brands whether they are splurge products or if they are a steal. Too bad they don't break it down that way though. Thanks for the tip!!! :clap_1:

No, I don't have any detergents that I recommend. That is not to say that you will not find one that suits you. Had I known that you have had bad luck with the real soaps, I would have slipped a couple of my bars to you.;-) Maybe next time.

OMG  You are so full of it Tootsie..you look like a teenager with your complexion but I WILL TRY THIS STUFF! i have to tell this funny story. A few years ago my husband was having a Chrristmas party for empoyees and wives. He was in charge of the men and me the wives. I went and purchased the norm lotions. etc., and kept a few for my self. The day after Christmas my brother and sister inlaw came for a visit and I shared my secret hand lotion with Lori and the next day with Steve. They both loved it! The following day my husband asked for the miracle lotion for his dry hands. I handed over the mracle lotion with the look of :D . He then READ the side of my miracle lotion and announced very loudly that I really was in need of reading glasses because my miracle lotion was for HAIR CONDITIONING... :rotfl: :rotfl: I do use my glasses but be ^&* if I am ready to give my age..Congrats to all who did! :clap_1:
