What a funny thread to be the first I read after my absence!!!

Boobahs drove me crazy!!! Little IBD loved them and then I had to cut the cord for my sake. They did/do have a website and when she was really young the "games" did help teach mouse skills but the sound...the horror!!!:yikes:

CORK, love the photo. You know, I just couldn't stop staring.... remember?????:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

Mangy - get with the program. we've watched these shows for eons. yes, they are trippy. little tiny kids love 'em!!! (I could never stand them). Spidey still likes them, but I can usually tempt him with something more suitable ... "Oh look! Scarface is on HBO!"

these pbs shows were developed for little kids (infants/toddlers) based on research of effects of TV on children. the idea is to provide interesting visuals at a slower pace to the little kids so they can follow along. research shows that typical kids shows are too fast paced, leading from one short scene to the next (i.e., spongebob), causing kids to develop very short attention spans, leading to ADD, and other stuff, or some crap like that. I forget the whole theory.

meanwhile, just eat your brownie, sit back, and enjoy the show.:funn:

I'll never forget when one of my wishkids wish was to see the Wiggles. I had no idea what to expect. I was just asked to accompany them there and bring them backstage to meet them. What a bunch of loonatics! The kids were all jumping, dancing and screaming like maniacs. I forgot to take a valium before I went. When we went backstage and met them, it became clear they were just normal guys making a buck in their moment of fame. I guess like Mangy says, anything that brings laughter is a good thing!

Have y'all ever seen those Baby Einstein videos? We were over at BobbyJ's when Brody was really small (smaller) and one of those Baby Einstien videos was on....we (the adults) were fascinated by this, we could not take our eyes off of it. We actually got tickled at ourselves, we enjoyed it more than he did.

I really got them! It was clear that they were teaching. Some of this other stuff like the Boobahs are so basic in the lessons, I guess. Not saying they're not important but like Toots said, goes to the core skills.

people and kids do love the baby einstein stuff, but spidey was never impressed, and neither was I.

Spidey just discovered that he can change the language setting on DVD movies. last night he watched about 45 minutes of Ice Age, The Meltdown, in French.

:yikes: Boy, I didn't even know that :rotfl:. I always get embarassed in Europe when everyone speaks for languages. Now, I'll have every 8 year old speaking 4 languages, making me feel stupid . :dunno:

When you have had to deal with an autistic child in your immediate family and you find a learning tool that aides in teaching communication, social and speaking skills that obviously has great benefits, that is a notch on the belt to anyone who has had to deal with this. I'll take Sesame Street and Baby Einsteins any day over Boobahs, and like Shelly said, a ball, some blocks and other simple toys participating with a child can foster lots of creativity and other skill sets.

You are a very special lady!

I'm not going to lie. I laughed soooo hard when I saw this, literally rolled around the floor and it was contagious. The last time I laughed that hard was with Corky. If all the Boobahs does in a situation like in a hospital setting is make people laugh, then it accomplished something.

The best medicine!!!!!

My daughter never liked those things. She'd point to them in Walmart and say "those are Boobahs. Boobahs are creepy." That's my girl!
