Speaking of responsibility, I am willing let Pres.Bush share in the glory of the Bin Laden capture, I mean after all, he made Pres. Obama "share" in the biggest financial collapse this country has seen since the Depression.

Someone please explain to me the logic of the "demand" by some that the photos of dead bin Laden be released?

If we haven't really killed bin Laden, all Al Qaeda has to do is release a video of bid Laden holding up today's newspaper & wow! the greatest embarrassment ever for the Great Satan, US!

Al Qaeda can easily disprove bin Laden's death (if he's not really dead).

In the meantime, publishing gory pix would have a negative effect--like publishing pix of The Prophet.

There's no need for the US to beat its breast about this. The prez says "That's not who we are--there's no need to spike the football."

The conservatives on this thread have been gracious and real in giving credit where credit is due. I commend you for this.

So- the following point isn't directed toward you. :)
Unfortunately, there are many Republicans who aren't as classy as you. They minimize credit given to Obama and are trumping up the credit that should be given to Bush.

These videos are for them. Pretty telling, IMO.

BUSH JUST SIX MONTHS AFTER HE TOLD THE 9-11 FIRST RESPONDERS THAT PRETTY SOON THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT DOWN THESE BUILDINGS WILL HEAR ALL OF US.

Right here!
Did we not provide intelligence and material support during the the Russian incursion into Afghanistan to him? Don't get me wrong, I supported our level of involvement during that time but as a country we do have some responsibility and President Reagan was the leader. But as your opinion to my opinion is BS my opinion of your opinion is the same.

It's hard to say exactly what the man thought, but the genesis of his hatred was our involvement in the Iraq/Kuwaiti war and the stationing of infidel troops in Saudi Arabia. He also obviously was a fan of Sharia law and generally viewed western culture with contempt. As far as the Russian/Afghanistan war goes at that time he was just another fighter on the side of the mujahedeen, which later split into two groups – the Northern Alliance and the Taliban.

I agree with most of this- the exception being that my understanding is he was much more than "just another fighter". I read that he was helping to fund the cause with his own money and that this period is the genesis for his folk hero status.

fair point...

EDIT: Of course, you can't be talking about me since I am no democrat. lol

There's no point in it really, when we get into those threads we're not changing anybody's mind, we're just hurling rocks.

Please bear in mind that it is not unusual for the United States to support one group or individual at one period of time and oppose them at another. Ho Chi Minh immediately comes to mind.
Bin Laden caused directly or indirectly, deaths on American soil. He deserved what he got.

Another fair point (presuming you mean there is no point in me posting the videos).
I acknowledge that I was hurling rocks.

I have been listening to ignorant buffoons talk about the smart, ballsy, American President I voted for as being a weak, socialist, Kenyan for two years - fueled by morons like Sarah Palin. So when he came out shining this week because he took the high road on the birth cerificate issue and executed a risky executive order that killed Bin Laden-

and then I heard that he didn't deserve the credit meanwhile I heard that Bush did,,,

Well- yes, I wanted to throw rocks. Truth be told the fools I am describing make me crazy.

So rather than literally throwing rocks, I busted out some telling videos to support my point.

Sigh.

K. I feel better now. Carry on. lol
