I recycle at work (get the blue bags from here and put the trash out at my house) One of my co workers went to the annex to pick up some more bags for us and she was told that because of budget cuts, the county is no longer issuing blue bags. To recycle in our county we have to go to a recycling trailer. I don't mind doing this...but I wonder how many people will not recycle now that the blue bags are gone? :sosad:

It's not hard- we keep 2 bins in the garage and take them to the blue trailers every other week. Haven't used the bags in forever- harder to find and keep those around than throw the stuff in the back of the car and drop it off at the bins on the way to somewhere else!

I ask at the annex a couple of days ago, they said the Publix at Sandestin Grand would order you blue bags, but you have to purchase them. Or use the dumpsters.

You might want to take a trip to the dump one day and watch the inmates go through the garbage and pull recyclables from all garbage, not just the blue bags.

I do LOVE the convenience of the blue bags at home. but the trailers are very convenient too so any effort is worthwhile!

this topic was just covered on this thread - take a look for good info covered here: http://www.sowal.com/bb/local-government/43953-recycling.html#post639099

in above recent thread, Just Curious confirmed the funding for the blue blag program was through a grant which is no longer available. and others offered info on recyling trailer locations and Publix recyle bins.

Used blue bags for a lot of yrs in cheeseland. Upon last visit, blue bags are going away, and being replaced with plastic bins. Go figure. Thought the bags were a better way for all concerned for recycling.
