I didn't see it but heard it was awful. Too bad because Jindal is a really bright guy from the other side of the aisle. I wonder if anyone with Jindal's viewpoints would have fared well. Right now, the majority of US citizens (whether they care to admit it or not) are anti-business which is not Jindal's message. Jindal believes strongly in private solutions to big problems. Maybe his speeches will sound better in a couple of years.

It wasn't what he said, but how he said it. I like Jindal, but I couldn't listen or watch the complete speech.

I read it and some of it was reasonable and some of it was too far out there. But I agree -- I couldn't comprehend a thing he said while he was actually talking. I was distracted by my memories of one of his Hurricane Ike press conferences, during which he sounded not just competent but like a total bada**.

I'm not sure who this other guy was.

Maybe he just needs the hurricane pressure to excel.

I had positive thoughts of Jindal coming into his own within the Republican Party, but after watching the latter part of his speech I have second thoughts. I felt he was positioning himself for a run for president without giving careful thought to the economic situation we are dealing with now. His comments seemed awkward in that they weren't following up on Obama's speech - just stuck to what he had prepared beforehand. That made it seem disjointed to me. Again, I didn't hear his whole speech but from what you folks are reporting, I didn't miss much.
I had my hopes up for him.:dunno:

I actually had visions of SNL on both the beginning of the Congress Address and Jindal's beginning.

Something about how SNL does the CSPAN take - gets me every time. Clever, very clever.

Conservative 101 Talk Radio yesterday led into a segment on the Jindal speech with the theme music from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood--that fact pretty much says it all, regarding his personal style and delivery...

....as far as substance, it was just a big distraction, just more of the typical Republican talk of tax and spend Dems, nothing new on the table from them.

Funny, I would have rather heard from Sarah Palin-- IMO she probably would have done a much better job!

That is kind of rediculous calling them tax and spen Dems. isn't it?

I wouldn't write off Bobby just yet. He has always been kind of goofy when he gives a speech. His strengths are his likability factor, upbeat demeanor and smarts. If he doesn't screw up as governor he will be a viable POTUS candidate in 2012.
