William and his brother Harry serve in their countrys military and seem to be pretty decent young men. There is nothing to worship but nothing to hate either.

I'm sure William & Harry are pretty decent young men (although Harry's wearing a Nazi uniform to a friend's costume party was certainly a lapse in judgement).
Obviously, the concept of "royalty" doesn't grate on others like it grates on me.
It bothers me that some people are considered "royal" just because of who their parents are, while the rest of us are "common" -- even people who have achieved real greatness in their lives through talent, hard work, intelligence, etc.
I'm insulted by this idea & think everyone else should be too.
The concept of "royalty" violates my basic ideas of fairness & egalitarianism.
It's an old-fashioned concept that modern-day folks, should reject out of hand.
Most of the time, the issue is out of sight & out of mind, but nowadays one can't turn on the tube w/out being inundated w/ all the details of The Royal Wedding.
I ignore it best I can, but it's hard to avoid.
The fact that many (most?) Americans are totally gaga over this "royal" event puzzles & disappoints me.
I'm surprised that more posters here aren't put off by the concept of "royalty;" but, hey, that's just me.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Americans have Burger King and Dairy Queen.

The "commoner" daughter of 2 middle class flight attendants (now small business owners) is marrying into the British royal family and will spawn their future rulers - completely in line with the American way of thinking IMO and well worth celebrating.

I'm not gaga because I think royals are better (I actually think all the royal families are long overdue for some good peasant stock in their bloodlines), but because it's a positive and happy event. The world always needs to celebrate such things.

In some circles, the royal wedding is a far, far better thing than the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Lower Oakland Roller Derby Finals all rolled into one.

Well, fortunately we live in America and we all don't have to agree even though you think we should. Maybe we should invade Britain and oust the Royal Family!:D

Cool it , this is something we old women can enjoy without feeling guilty. Would you rather we watch the fighting everywhere? Just sayin.

I'm setting my alarm for 4:00 A.M. Friday putting on a fancy hat, wearing my PJ's, and entertaining some of my girlfriends in their hats and PJ's for breakfast and momosas.
We are looking forward to this and can't wait!
