I guess I don't care enough about it to boycott it.

I would consider your indifference to be better than an active positive interest.
However, since the idea of "royalty" is based on the assumption that some people are born better than others, I think indifference implies tacit acceptance of a bad idea.
Some posters have suggested that the "royal" wedding is just benign fun.
But, can benign fun be based on an evil idea?

Some people ARE born in better circumstances than others. Democracy just believes that doesn't dictate your entire life.

I'm a mongrel and proud of it, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the show and be happy for them.

Much bigger things for me to worry about.

The high some people get from these events is stronger than heroin, crack and chocolate combined.

Just because their government is different then the American flavor of democracy hardly makes the concept of royalty evil. Where is the tolerance that America is based upon? The world is a large place and the diversity of doing things just adds to the richness of humanity. Weddings are a thing of joy and I have no problem emphasizing with that joy and happiness, the world can definitely use more of it.

Douglas, I certainly agree that weddings are a thing of joy--no argument there.
However, there are certain things even tolerant Americans should not be tolerant of.
I feel sure you'd agree we shouldn't be tolerant of slavery or sexism or racism.
Slavery, sexism & racism are based on the premise that some people are born better than others.
Royal-ism is based on that same assumption.
"Royalty" is equivalent to "classism" or "caste-ism." Do you honestly think we should be tolerant of an "ism" based on such an elite idea?
I'm not saying we should break off diplomatic relations w/ UK or declare war on them.
I'm just saying we should be negative about royalism & all its lavish ceremonies.
