Well our we had a nice burglary in the family Friday night.

Between 3:30 and 5:30 AM, someone broke into my brother in law's home.
They came in the back door and left from the front door. When they were leaving, they picked up the keys to one of their cars and stole it, too. The car was packed to leave on a trip the next morning so all of their luggage, medicine, and everything else you would take on a trip was stolen with it.

The really scary thing about this is they were all asleep in the bed when this happened. The baby was in bed with them as well as the 'not so good of hearing' dog. My brother in law is a police officer and they also took his MPD jacket which was hanging on a chair in their BEDROOM.

They shut the bedroom door behind them and then proceeded to take a brand new flat panel television, video camera, and get this, the Christmas present under the tree. They live in a small, one story home.

We all have something to be thankful for for Christmas. Mine is that they didn't wake up while this happened because these guys would have had to be willing to kill in order to break into a home where they knew someone
was sleeping.

It could have been a real bad Christmas...

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. That is really, really just horrible and SCARY!! I can't even imagine being at home during a burglary. Do they have any idea of possible suspects? Was the back door unlocked or a break in? Did they also steal your BIL's gun? Any fingerprints?

Well since he's an officer, they fingerprinted just about everything. The burglars only took presents that were heavy (not clothes) so they
touched every present as they sorted through them. The detectives unwrapped all the presents that were left and they got some great prints of their curious two year old but they also got some good ones of the theives.

They had hardwood floors put in recently and there were two workers who mostly stood around and they think they might have something to do with it. They are not sure if the back door was locked or not. He keeps all of his guns in a safe so none of them were taken. These guys are going to walk in on the wrong dude one day and die for it. Hopefully someone else will get them before they hurt someone else.

OMG.....how AWFUL! I felt a chill when I read about the jacket in the bedroom! Makes you wonder if it was someone who knew who's house he was breaking into and was trying to make a point? What a jerk! But the main thing is that the family is safe, thank God!

You've got that right. I can't imagine trying to go to sleep knowing someone had been in my bedroom while my family laid there asleep.

On a lighter note, BR's going to go crazy on this thread.

Any minute now......3, 2, 1....... :rotfl:

That is why they think it was those two bums working on the flooring. They spent a few days there and got to know their routine and how the house was laid out. Not to mention, they stared at that new television for three days. I think its pretty obvious.

Glad everyone is ok!

And the fingerprinting really does work! I always thought that was just in the movies. But I knew someone who had a break in awhile back, police took a few prints and they caught the guy about 6 weeks later!!
