on a lake in the woods
Ya'll are so wise to think ahead about these things. Life has a way of sneaking up on you. I for one have been looking at options. I like the idea of creamation. I was young when my father died and my recollections of the funeral home experience upset me so I know I don't want to be embalmed. I have been reading about green burials. No embalming, wooden coffin...some states even allow residents to bury family in unmarked graves in their state forests. The idea of spreading ashes in the wind or of being buried in the woods so I could enrich the soil...That is much better.

There is a company that makes glass ornaments or somesuch with a small portion of your loved one's ashes in it.

I'm a big fan of cremation (cannot stand open casket funerals).

I would
LOVE to have myself buried in the Washington Cemetery because many people I knew, Such as Hank are there and that area is one of my favorite places!

First they can pry out any spare parts that are worth something to anyone; then cremate the rest, pack the ashes in a HUGE fireworks rocket, and include it in the finale of a nighttime show at Disneyworld....OOOO!...AHHH!

I love that you keep her so close to you.

Thank you! Yes- she is in our hearts every single day, and I love wearing my locket- although I'm quite protective and don't wear it too much- afraid it will get lost.

Her name is Morgan- so quite fitting b/c Morgan means "by the sea" - neat, isn't it? There is something about the Gulf/ocean that just feels like heaven - in my own personal way of thinking about heaven.

And I agree- I can not STAND open caskets. I realize a lot of this is a generation thing. I'm starting to see less and less. I think cremation makes the most sense, but of course, everyone should have their own wishes honored.

The older I get the more cremation is the way to go for me.
Mr. IBd already has his song picked out that is to be played....

My sister wanted her ashes in 3 places (good thing she told someone)
  1. Seacrest Beach
  2. Granby, Colorado
  3. Guana Cay, Abaco Bahamas
At least all the places were beautiful to conduct the "ceremony"

I did learn that it is really not legal to just pour the ashes on the shore of the Gulf. You are supposed to be so far out in the water...needless to say this was after we had spread her. I am sure we were not the first....

LDR74, I have some remains of my mom and sister. It seems that even though it is not 'them in the flesh' it is still them and makes me content. I am sorry to hear of your loss of your child, what a hard blow. Bless you....

My husband has already decided that that will be the way he is interred. You can find more information about them here. They will also give you the coordinates so family members can go fishing "with you"
