love this idea!

nohall - let us know what you decide to do. it sounds like you are going to enjoy this class. how did you get to be so lucky to teach this class?

spidey's class of 3-6 year olds are getting ready to embark on a big Jackson Pollack art project consisting of a series or groupings of mounted canvases - each child does one (will be shown and auctioned at the school fundraiser - Torre Rosa). I'm assisting with the project next week - its going to be really funn. I think.

My department head, an art teacher, is leaving to take a job outside of education. My principal came up to me a couple of weeks ago and said that they couldn't find anyone they liked to replace her, and that she had recommended me for the job--was I interested, and did I think I could do it? I told her that I had taken music classes all my life, which left no room for art classes, but that I love drawing and making things. Somehow I got the job...

I'm gonna have the most rocking resume ever: This semester I've independently taught band, chorus and drama. Now art--that's the entire fine arts department. (Thank GAWD they don't have dance at my school.)

Toots, I think you should take a field trip to Amore for this project. Inspiration on the wall in the inside dining area.

We had a fun project where we had to take a work of art and reproduce it in a different medium. Gives the kids a lot of freedom to choose from and a range of mediums to choose from.

it all sounds like a wonderful experience. how do you find the time for all of it though? I know a lot of prep work goes into each class. hope they gave you a raise along with the new class! and I hope you enjoy every minute - you are doing the most important job on earth ya know.

Count yer blessin's hun, you are having a great time right now. I often kinda wish I could go back and do it all over and get my teaching degree, but then I remember how much I hate children and how I break out in a rash whenever they are within earshot or eyesight.

Right now however, YOU are my hero!!! I am loving living vicariously through you, thinking of the lesson plans I'd develop. The possibilities are endless. It should be amazing to see what THEY come up with on their own!

Keep up the good work.

Thanks, but I'm really not kidding. I grew up hearing that children should be seen but not heard, but I say, who says you have to see them either??

Actually, in my old age, I'm turning into an old softee. Now that I have lots of grand neices and nephews. I'm the best grand Uncle. Love to spoil and return.

Actually, kids crack me up. And one of the greatest sounds in the world is the sound of childrens laughter. Just melts my heart.

Then after those few minutes pass, its out with the valium, and get me at a distance!

I'm like a Scrooge on the verge of evolving into St. Nick.
