There's a musical in this. Think OKLAHOMA farmers v ranch hands, West Side Story sharks v jets. All the songwriters and limber yoga people could make it happen. Would love to laugh and learn!

I believe beach chairs and umbrellas are people just like corporations. They should be allowed to marry any other beach item of their choosing be it a cooler, surf board, beach ball or even a root. Stay away from a Yeti, they are full of themselves.

I want to start dating sea turtles and just let things slowly develop.

According to the Police incident report there was a knife involved. According to the report Aggravated Assault charges may be pending and the vendor is the suspect and the girlfriend is a witness not a victim.

I can understand the wedding party not wanting laborers in beach attire ruining their wedding photos.

How's that working out Contessa? Did your keyboard malfunction?

Wedding Party should have gone to jail.

There must be a website or blog where the tourons are getting tips on how to beat the system in Walton.

Deputies seem to make up policy on beach rights / property rights each day and depending on the complaint.

Had this been a group of locals everyone would have been taken in.

When I was in the Coast Guard I had a thing for pelican sex. It really had more to do with tradition than kinky obsession.

Maybe you missed my second post.

Sounds just like people in real life. Oh wait - this is real life. Including people like you who have a holier than thou opinion of themselves and are always pointing fingers.

Nice first post. Can't wait for the second.

As for the vendor, I'm sure the situation could have been avoided with a little courtesy and respect for the party. Should they have moved stuff? Probably not. But I have seen at least one vendor on Grayton Beach act like an Ahole when people touch his stuff. There's no reason for that. Our vendors should always have a smile on their face and be thankful we allow them to operate and make a living on OUR beaches.

First of all I do not view myself as "holier than thou" Mike Jones.... I simply called a spade a spade.
And as far as my second post, it has been posted, in the dining forum ,in reply to your post where you stated that "Sea Grove Village Market will be gone by the end of the year " and that of course was incorrect also. And I say it was incorrect because it is incorrect.
So which is worse, being holier that thou, or spreading incorrect information?

As far as the vendor vs the wedding party, I don't care who was wrong or who was right, that wasn't my point. My point was many people were ready to burn the vendor at the cross without even knowing the whole story, and yes I am aware that that that is how SoWal.com rolls, running "rampant with rumor and misinformation" as another poster added. I come here for cheap entertainment, and you have provided me with such.
Have a great day!

Huh? That's not at all what I said. I was trying to clarify Comm. Meadows' comments, which I took to be about the beach vendors/beach crowding being a problem this summer, not about local businesses and restaurants having a bad summer.

Yeah, I get it, and should have left that one alone. Just wanted to point out it isn't all so horrible...

Commissioner Cindy Meadows represents most of the South Walton district and at the board meeting on Tuesday, she said "it's been the worst summer I can remember being here."

If you are looking at Sowal as a source of hard news, you may be looking in the wrong place. It is notorious for rumor and opinion, often as misinformed as informed. And that's the way most of us view it. I know there is hardly a newspaper or television station that is filling the void, but please don't count on an odd-ball bunch of posters filling the bill.

Who you call oddball? You the oodball. Oddball!

To me, episodes like this are a pretty clear indicator our bed taxes are too low.

Yeah, you're right. If everybody started charging, say, three thousand dollars per day for their rental units both the umbrella rental problem and the traffic problem would go away.
