Right here!
And clearly a woman should be punished for letting herself get raped while she was fertile. She must have been something to deserve it, eh? Of course that harlot should have to carry that fine man's baby to term in those circumstances.

Just trying to clarify your position.

If she were sterile, it wouldn't be an issue. They make sure this is the case in other parts of the world, places that embrace a more statist view of things, a view similar to your own? (Just trying to clarify your position using the same hubris, BTW.)

My original point was that even though politician try to enforce their views on us through law, we have stop gaps to prevent them from achieving their goals - the Constitution and the court. Undermine those systems and all bets are off. Democrats should think long and hard about this.

To me, it's not a coincidence that education is on the leaning edge in budget cuts all over the country. It serves a certain type of politician to keep the populace as uneducated as they can. What better way to get your understanding of the constitution than to watch Fox News, right? :sarc:
I do not believe this is necessarily so, and even if it is, it is an individual's responsibility to make sure he is aware of what is going on around him and how it affects him. If he doesn't do so, it is his loss. I, nor none of my friends, need to be, or are we, led around by the nose by those who are interested in the populace as a whole being protected. We think, act, and promote doing things for ourselves but are astute enough to realize there are times we all need help from someone. For some that help is from their God, for others their friends and compatriots. And yes, for some from the government, if that is what is needed. The narrowness noted so often here is, too me, unbelieveable. No one has all the right answers but there seems to be a definite trend in this country at this time away from individualism and self reliance. We all need the help of our fellow man at times but it is not a constant need. Education has always been at the forefront of our American society. It is no different today, though some changes in how it is offered may be called for at this point and that is what is really transpiring, not just a lack of funding.

Odin is a major god in Norse mythology, Fj?rgyn's baby daddy, pops to Thor, and the ruler of Asgard. Normally hangs out down at the Red Bar in Grayton on Thursday nights (he's the big burly bearded dude ordering flagons of something called 'mead'). Whatever you do, just don't get on his bad side with all his hurling of thunderbolts and whatnot.

I'm not sure what your point is. My point is that the government of any country should have, as one of it's highest priority, the education of it's citizens. They should be educated in public schools, not by the television and the internet, which are basically commercial and entertainment media. I'm no internet research genius, but I'd be very curious to know just how much of our GDP goes to the proliferation of weapon systems as oppose to educational systems.

Not all of us see the world through tea colored glasses.

I hear what you are saying but careful to judge. Many here and elsewhere use religion to further their spirituality and help provide a structure and a philosophy for life. It can be useful.

But when we think that we actually know all the answers, based on what our religion has taught us, we are very shortsighted.

I don't know the answer to your question and I never will.
I'm judging Rick Scott by his actions and the way he has lived his life. He has used religion to further his political ambitions and to crush ordinary folks who stand in his way.

Don't be confused. I've never met an atheist who didn't believe there was a historic figure named Jesus.

It's kinda like Karol Wojtyla- he existed and he is credited with miracles and he will be regarded as a saint soon. But atheists don't believe he was anything more than a man.
