O.K., now that Halloween is over, time to move on...

I need suggestions on what to give my in-laws. You know, they always say they never want anything, never need anything (they're not wealthy people either). And no, we're not gonna spend lots of $$$ and send them on a cruise. Just a normal gift. We did the fruit of the month last year (they loved that gift, seriously!!). Got them a computer the year before. Help!! I'm sure there are lots of you with the same delimma!!!

Do they have cable? We did that for my Grandma one year. We gave her the cookies of the month once and she loved that. We bought her a DVD player one year too with a bunch of old movies. Do they have cell phones? We had a quilt made with all the grandkids names on it. Have you spent time with them recently? If you can visit I'm sure you could get some clues. I was at my mother inlaws a couple of weeks ago and she said...I just love music boxes. So I've been looking out for just the right one. I haven't found it yet but I still have a month or so. :) Good Luck!

Thank you for the ideas. They live in the next suburb, so yes, we do see them... (not really a bad thing, but you know how that goes...)

Do they like movies or music? We gave my in-laws a CD player one year and some of their favorites. Sinatra, Big Band music, Henry Mancini....etc. They had a huge record collection that had been lost in a house fire. Boy, Nana and PaPa could really rock out! They danced their little hearts out!

The next year we got them a DVD player and some of their favorite movies. Then some years we give them box sets of their favorite old TV shows. It gives you a lot of possibilities.

I thought of something else...my MIL loves the movie The Sound of Music. One of the things I got her last year were collector's plates I found on Ebay. I bought a plate rack for her too. She loved it. Probably sounds a little cheesy but she liked it. Can I add that we have totally different tastes and I never know what to get her.

Same here. My MIL loves The Godfather movies, so we got her that set one year along with Dr. Zhivago.
