Donna said:My mother and mother-in-law certainly do not need more things to find a place for. Lately, we have given them gift certificates for massages and manicures/pedicures. They love this. It's not that they can't afford it on their own, but their generation just did not spend money for such "frivolous" things. The massages are therapeutic for arthritis and pedicures are very important for the overall health of many aging people.
In reverse, my mother constantly asks what she can give me for special occasions. My husband and I are minimalists. Last year, I asked her to fill out a kind of self interview book called "My Story," which I mailed to her. She relucantly did this (doesn't like to talk about herself) and I learned so many things about her childhood and her feelings that I would never have known otherwise. It explained a lot about the past, too. I treasure this book. You can find it through Amazon or any other big book purveyor.
You know, that just be the right gift!!!Smiling JOe said:As long as we're on the movie kick, how about a one-year subscription to Netflix?

The "My Story" book sounds like a great idea. I'll pass that unique idea on to some friends.Donna said:My mother and mother-in-law certainly do not need more things to find a place for.
