And we'll be waiting for all of you, out on the Conch Out decks with a bottle of Napa Valley's finest in hand! We firmly believe that the key to a happy and healthy old age is to keep moving (today and continuing) and to stay mentally active, and to always remember that aches and pains do not translate into good conversation. Oh....and to drink a glass of red wine every day!

I believe the red wine part!!!

And I am trying to figure out a way to work your comment on aches and pains and good conversation into a conversation with my mother!!!:bang: A little sittin' on the deck/drinking wine therapy would be nice right now....(where is the wistful gaze smilie?)

Just read this thread...have you been in my life?? We all must have the same aging parent, but I love the "what not to do suggestions". I take my mother to the beach EVERY year, and the sibling that is the "prodigal child" invites her to her house in Mobile, and my vacation is a dump..can you imagine that in SoWal??? :dunno: Hard to keep taking someone with you that doesn't seem to appreciate it. But if I don't then I am the bad child.

You need to be the bad child then. I realized I only had so many years with my kids, and my husband also deserved to relax on his vacation. We were always walking on eggshells- you never knew what would set her off. There are a few other variables in there that didn't help, but let's just say that the older I got, the less tolerant I am became of her bad behavior. So I just told her we were going with just friends- nobody was taking their mother. She even kept asking- like I was lying about no other grandmothers coming. It has been worth the little snide comments to have the week to ourselves.

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
Please count me in as one of the people who gets old and drinks wine with friends at Conch Out (we'll make our cottages available, too)! Can we add pate, cheeses, etc. that guests bring, along with the wine?

If Donna makes us sit outside in the sand, we will know why. Maybe we'll have to sit on newspapers!
