Beach Runner said:BTW we chose Wolf over the more popular Viking because you can simmer on all 5 burners. I use that feature a lot. We liked the looks of the Dacor, but some friends of ours had a lot of trouble with theirs, both at their house here in GA and their house at Seaside.
Thanks for the info!
Beach Runner said:I wish we had two ovens at the beach like we do at our GA home. One oven makes cooking Thanksgiving dinner a challenge, although thankfully my sister's beach house is a few hundred yards from ours, so I use her oven when I need more than one. She doesn't have a double oven at her beach house, yet she has one of those refrigerated under-counter wine cellars there. Guess she figured she'd be drinking more than cooking at the beach!
Thanks for the info!
TooFarTampa said:Wolf :clap_1: is far superior to the Viking, from everything I have read. A pro-style range was not in the cards this time, but one of these days I'm going to get me one. Of course I have to bring my cooking up to par first.![]()
My Dacor is a residential style model, the Millenia, and it is oh so sleek and pretty. Also childproof. Remodeling has been an obsession of mine for almost 10 years ... don't get me started on these topics, it is scary! We have not done much remodeling lately; the projects we have left have been on hold ever since we discovered SoWal and started sending money up there every month. Funny how that works.![]()
But I am always up for talking about paint. ;-)
LOL.TooFarTampa said:Also, CIL and BR, a good convection microwave (ie the better ones made by Sharp, including the Dacor brand) will do as a second oven in a pinch. I hosted Thanksgiving and it worked out very well. The stuffing was dry, but that was me and not the oven.
Fortunately we also have a wine fridge so I forgot my mortification pretty quickly. :funn:
Yes, you did! And you were right, as always.Mermaid said:I hear ya about the paint (but you already know that). We have a Thermador in our kitchen at home and though I like it, I'm not in love with it. It's not quite as easy to clean the cooktop as I think it should be--the steel scratches too quickly when you're trying to scour off burnt and spilled food. Ah well, I guess I can call that "patina." There's lots of patina on my stove!
BR, didn't I tell you that once you got your new gas range you'd wonder how on earth you ever lived without it?? ;-)

I'm pretty OCD about my cooktop. I keep it very clean. Even the Scotch-Brite thingies don't scratch it up. I am, however, putting off cleaning the Vent-A-Hood. Don't feel bad about your patina - the Viking guy said that people who know understand that a gas cooktop is supposed to look like it's been used.
