Western End of the Destin Bridge... Can you get to it from Holiday Isle? Or is it really closer to Ft. Walton. I have always thought that the water got bluer and more clear once you crossed the bridge heading toward Ft. Walton.

I'm pretty sure the only way to get there safely is via boat. I don't think swimming across the Destin Pass would be a good idea. There may be a way to wade out there from the west side of the bridge but I didn't see anybody doing that. I was hoping a local would chime in by now but until then I'm gonna have some funn

We were there all day saturday and it was BEAUTIFUL! We usually take a boat out there from Bluewater Bay, but this weekend we decided to drive. So yes, you CAN get there other ways than boat. We just drove over the bridge and parked in the parking lot on the left at the VERY end of the bridge. Easy! Hope that helps answer your questions....

I should clarify, you can get to a portion of crab island by car. (destin harbor) But as said in earlier posts, you probably wouldn't be safe swimming out to the rest of it. You'll see tons of boats anchored out there, and then others just swimming and hanging out on shore. Sorry I don't have any pics to share.
