It shows that there are many ways (other than writing the price on the back of a card) to buy/sell in this age of Internet and other means.

Yeah, it show just how desperate these folks are getting to unload their lots and should prompt one to lower their asking price a notch or two next time they make a firm offer (on the back of a business card of course ;-) ).

I think that both ebay and the professional auctions both have the "out" for the seller that if they do not get their "reserve" or minimum bid on the lot/house/condo then the property is just not sold/closed. :dunno: I'm sure the auction company fee is paid eitherway so there is some cost and risk if you go that route if that is true. The auction company has to recoup for advertising and costs associated with "listing" or carrying the property I would think. I am going to check into it just for because I am curious.

Anyone out there know more about this or have any experience with this professional auction method?

My husband, believe it or not, bought an awsome work truck on ebay. As far as reserve, yes, if the reserve is not met then they have the right not to sell the product. But once the reserve is met and you are the winning bidder then it becomes a legal binding contract. They ususally have terms and conditons. I see in this ad, you must pay money within 72 hours, which is typical. I believe that in this situation this is being used as a "real estate agent" per say. I would think that this would only be the beginning.

I wonder if the sellers will get a bid anywhere close to the $460K they paid for it in June '05? :dunno:

I am thinking about throwing in a bid at $11,000. Maybe I will also write that on a business card.

Ebay hint...don't bid until the very last few minutes...you just drive up the price otherwise. With a reserve....let others bid until you find out what the seller will really sell it for. This auction does have a reserve of course. We'll have to watch it and see what happens. BTW, not interested, just curious. I love Ebay. My Dad started selling on Ebay years ago and it became his "retirement business". Now he has a warehouse and a web storefront. www.nauticalseasons.com He likes to keep busy and this works for him. :)

We bought a car on E-bay- it shipped from Oregon. My brother just did too, also lots of friends. If you are looking for something very particular, it is the way to go.

You got it! But I refer to myself as a smart buyer. I bet I've dissapointed a few bidders out there.
So you are going to wait to the last minute and then steal this lot from me for only $12,000. :bang:
