Just heard on the radio that Delta pilots have voted to strike - don't know when yet - but could get messy.
At least I am flying American to VPS in 3 weeks. But what about all my Delta FF miles - guess we will have to wait and see.

They are on my *&$# list right now. My mom was in ATL yesterday when the power went out. All the people flying into PCB were at gate 28 they sat and sat, then an agent said oh yall are supposed to be at gate 32. All 50 people went to the gate and the agent said oh the plane just left. Now dont you think an empty plane would turn on a lightbulb in someones brain that there obviously was a problem?????:bang: :bang:

Anyway after supposedly arriving in PCB at 3:00 I drove to dothan, Al and picked her up at 8:00, no it was 9:00, no now it is 10:00, 10:15, 10:30, the plane arrived at 10:45!!!! Man what a mess... now to find the luggage!!!

I have a $985 credit with Delta, hope I do not lose it!!

I try to fly AA whenever possible. Delta always looses my luggage or is late so I always miss the connecting flight.

Delta's mainline service is generally pretty midpack among big airlines. The problem is their Southeastern commuter service, which got named Satan's Commuter Airline by a major national customer satisfaction survey a while back. ASA (or whatever it's called now) is the dumping ground for the people who were too incompetent to cut it working for the Delta mothership. And unfortunately, ASA/its successor handles about 50-75% of the Delta flights into the Panhandle area.

These days, we normally end up flying Northwest instead. They're not perfect, but the Memphis hub is pretty nice, and the staff seem reasonably competent.

A friend of mine is a pilot for Delta...or was. He got laid off back in February. Hope they figure it all out. Soon. Surely they'll come to an agreement.

The last time I flew Delta to South Walton (from San Francisco), the ground crew actually lost the connecting flight at Atlanta Airport. They shuffled us to another gate twice, but still we waited for 45+ minutes. An increasing number of gate agents appeared, but no aircraft and no announcement. I have learned the Zen method of travel sanity, so just sit tight with my book and tunes until they board. This one exhausted looking businessman finally started asking questions and was told that they had "lost the aircraft." In other words, it was on the ground somewhere in Atlanta, but they could not locate it. We started getting nervous, because one cannot usually fly into Ft. Walton at all hours and it was getting late. This businessman had a fit and fell into it. Didn't help matters, but I confess to getting some vicarious pleasure from the high drama. Well, an hour later, Delta finally located a plane, which was filthy. We arrived in Ft. Walton at 1:00 a.m. in a pouring rain. The terminal was under construction, so we all had to walk in the downpour to the terminal. Rental car offices were all closed, so someone had to be called at home to return. Finally got a rental car and walked again in the pouring rain to the temporary rental car lot. By the time I got to Grayton, it was 3:00 a.m., still pouring rain. :bang: Next day, I came down with the flu and was housebound for three days. Delta Airlines is no longer my first choice, but we don't have a lot of choices. American is much better. One more reason why the new airport will be a benefit.

not so the detroit or the ft. lauderdale staff. we had an awful experience with northwest and they even lost our luggage for 2 days to boot. we will never fly with them again. ever.....

They (ASA) do not care if they have a problem. My husband flies out of Dothan often. This is the third week in a row that the first leg of his trip has been screwed up. Two weeks ago they bused the passengers to Atlanta, last week, they bused the passengers to Atlanta. He left yesterday morning to go to airport (along with several others from our office) and called me at 4:30 p.m. and said he was still sitting at Dothan airport - he sat and sweated it out because he had to be out west this morning and he finally got there about 2a.m. It is pitiful. I have told him repeatedly that by the time he spends 20 minutes driving out to the airport and 3, 4, 5 sometimes even 6 hours sitting there, he can drive from our house to Atlanta airport in about 3 1/2 hours so why not drive and be sure of getting his connection???? :dunno: They don't care!

when we were coming back from our first cruise, we got loaded fine in ft lauderdale, then sat on the runway for almost 6 yes 6 hours because of some ficticious maintenance problem with the plane (the workers were on strike so were doing everything they could to make all flights late). then when we finally go to detroit we had missed our connection to dayton and we had to wait another 5 or so hours. it ended up taking 19 yes 19 hours to get home from ft laud. we could have driven in that amount of time !!! :bang:
