I hope that Sherrif is fired, not just suspended. I wonder how he got into the jail or from his car into the station? Wouldn't his car have special tags and or adaptions for his legs?

I am trying to make sense of why she didn't believe him. Seems like there are parts missing from this story.

I thought quadriplegic meant you didn't have use of all 4 limbs - so how was he driving a car down the street waving his arms? :dunno:

A friend of mine had the same accident in high school--broke his neck wrestling and became a quadriplegic. His car has hand controls, and he does have some use of his arms/hands. Think of it as only being able to do what you can do with the strength from your forearms, but no shoulder/back strength.

Unfortunately there are people in positions of authority who have no business in those positions. They don't believe anything anyone says and they do stupid stuff like this. What an awful way to live... If she is convicted/jailed for the abuse, she will get a good dose of how it feels to be on the other side.

This morning's news said the deputy is faces a felony charge of abuse of a disabled person. Apparently, a warrant has been issued and while they don't know her whereabouts, she's expected to surrender.

Notice the gloves on the other person and the paper says after he was dumped, they conducted a body search before putting him back in his chair. Also, the guy says they picked him up in some kind of painful hold because he couldn't reach the fingerprint machine but that wasn't caught on tape.

Driving 5 mph in a 30mph zone?. :dunno: It seems that the officials are making no excuses and have said that he wasn't combative or verbally abusive before the assault by the detention deputy. 2 of the deputies are on unpaid leave and 2 are suspended on paid leave so now we're paying them to sit home on their butts. :dunno:

Quite sad

Not trying to stir the pot....but...

Have you noticed that there haven't been any national outrage from Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson about how the law enforcement abused the disabled? I wonder why?

You could bet that they would be all over the air waves if this had been a white officer and a black disabled person.....but hey...there is NO racism in American from African Americans huh?;-)

Side note: Personally, I DON'T believe that race had anything to do with this stupid act. I've been around a lot of law enforcement officers throughout my life and they put up with a lot of crap that does create tension and results in problems. But, I don't believe from what I saw on the tape that the victim was antagonistic and diffinitely didn't deserve the abuse.

Where's the law enforcement officer that actually arrested someone for driving too slow? We need some of those around here.

There is now an arrest warrant out for the female deputy that did the dump. They are talking about giving her 5 years in jail for abusing the handicapped. A deputy going to jail could mean a death sentence for her.

:lolabove:Good point Arkie; I wont go into detail; but good point!!

They'd have to be pretty blatantly "antagonistic" to justify dumping someone out of their wheelchair and possibly breaking their ribs. That kind of "antagonism" would be readily visible IMO!

By ALL means; NOT taking the jailers side; BUT if you have actually ever experienced "jail" and I don't mean "going to jail"... The jailers tend to become very complacent with whom they have to interact with on a daily/nightly basis.... with that being said, this particular jailer is def in the wrong business....

Never the less; the Quad, Brian Sterner seems to be handling this situation very professionally..... He was taken into custody and arrested accordingly to the crime commited.....
Sterner was arrested at his home and taken to the jail on a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, according to records.......

From http://treadmarkz.wordpress.com/2008/02/16/brian-sterner-deputy-turns-herself-in/

I’d like to know where Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the NAACP are right now. If this had been a black man being dumped out of his wheelchair by a white officer there would be swift, and very public, commentary from these opportunists. But NO this is a white man and it involves a black officer so they remain eerily silent. This just proves the point that these hypocritical racists are only out to further their own agenda, put their images all over the television in support of black-only racial injustices, and are not willing to stand up for any person or group whose skin color does not match theirs. They are a pathetic bunch of losers who deserve to be banished from the public arena. I guarantee not once will you see Jackson or Sharpton on TV saying how this is a racial issue even though had the players skin colors been switched, that is exactly what you’d be hearing from these media hungry vultures.:dunno:
