Where else in NWFL did your family live? Why did they settle here, rather than other parts of the Panhandle? What did they do to earn a living?

Farming and timber were popular. Family was really in a number of Florida counties (and where the counties are and when and what they were named is another long story). My great great grandfather was a lawyer, judge and superintendent in Taylor county. His wife and my great great grandmother was Nancy Jane Hendry Wentworth. Hendry County, down in South Florida, was named for relative Francis Asbury Hendry. Obviously, there were a number of preachers.

We're Lower Alabama, really, so can we make that null & void?:floor: Just kidding. I hope no one is taking me seriously, besides the fact that I don't like them here very much.

SWGB has done his homework. Alabama was once part of Florida, but Florida has not been part of Alabama. If you go by the La Florida map by Chavez in Ortelius' 1584 Atlas of the world, even Texas was once part of Florida.

If you're related to Cumbaa, Wenzel or Coopers over in P'Cola and Baldwin County, we're cousins! They've been around for 150+ years, even over in this area.
