Digital and high def are 2 different things. High def is just a higher picture quality, digital vs. analog is a different way of broadcasting.

And just because your TV doesn't receive a digital signal doesn't means it's useless. Even if you don't want to get a converter you can still hook it up to a VCR, DVD player, or video game console.

As I watch maybe two DVDs per year, my TV will be worthless to me, unless I buy the converter or take up video game playing. I think game consoles will quickly fade when the TVs go digital, because they will be available for free online with ads paying for the costs of the games.

Are the rebates/stimulus package a type of political pork? Sort of a "micro pork" designed to attrack approval or votes. Less subtle than the political macro pork that goes to earmarks.

Good analogy, and I also find it interesting that the most important infrastructure project that Walton County will probably ever do, four-laning the 331 bridge, will likely require a HUGE earmark/pork for it to get done. Either that or a bridge toll since there won't be enough state and local money. However, I guess this is pork that many on here would support but tenderloin or pigs feet, it's still pork.

Just heard that the Senate Bill for the economic stimulus package contained an extra 40 Billion dollars, and failed to pass with only 58 of the 60 needed votes.

The bill passed, now we just have to wait until May for the checks to start arriving............and then economic salvation! :roll:
