I'd like to respond to that but I'm in the middle of a left turn...

I thought the American Indians had it way before anybody else.

That was the motivation behind the 45th adopting it. I'm by no means an authority on the topic of swastikas, but it's one of those designs that seemed to be independently developed by many different cultures world wide. It's really an ornate design that goes into various arts and crafts. I think the earliest occurence may have been in India. I've heard there is some structure from 1919 in North America somewhere in which marble swastika designs are embedded in the floor. They have to have a sign explaining what that's all about. They used to delegate those duties a public relations man with a stubby moustache and a bad combover. That didn't go so well.

It always seem to symbolize a whirlwind (hurricane/tornado) to me. Perhaps just the galaxy we are in...there's something turning in that symbol... Hitler sure did have a great PR machine... and they did have have good-looking uniforms...

The Pledge of Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy, a Christian socialist Pastor.

"Francis Bellamy (1855 - 1931), a Baptist minister, wrote the original Pledge in August 1892. He was a Christian Socialist. In his Pledge, he is expressing the ideas of his first cousin, Edward Bellamy, author of the American socialist utopian novels,
Looking Backward (1888) and Equality (1897)." -http://oldtimeislands.org/pledge/
