I definitely didn't come away with a good over evil message from Oz, more like some people are just never going to find redemption for themselves, and that evil frequently goes unpunished. That, and magic existed because it was the only possible way Adebesi's funny little hats could possibly stay on his head.

of all time - The Wire

current - Curb, Weeds, Flight of the Conchords, Eastbound & Down

two great non HBO/Sho series are Breaking Bad and Mad Men on AMC

Not overly thrilled with Hung, show me the money!

Weeds, Dexter, Bill Maher, and Nurse Jackie are must watches, thank god for ondemand. Penn and Teller is great too. AMC's Breaking Bad is a thrill ride worth watching, season 3 is on it's way and 1 and 2 are available on Net Flix. If you ever get the urge to make a quick buck in meth watch this first.

I guess I will always be a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan.

But Breaking Bad (on AMC) is my all time favorite cable TV program. I'm going thru withdrawal until the new season starts. (Who knew Malcom's dad could be such a badass!)

Oz was just a much more real look at Prison's than anything you'd ever find on Cinemax after 10 PM. It was incredibly violent, but that's not really a stretch for most prisons.

Love this one: Big Love (back in January)

That's it. Remember the not so with it SIL poisoning everyone with antifreeze? Bizarre!!

I agree. It was portraying maximum security and violent habitual offenders. Interesting twists and turns in almost every show. But, my GF thought those guys were H O T! She was funny!

Well the constant full frontal nudity of hot men wasn't too bad. Jason Priestley was kind of a let down though.

It used to be that whenever I saw J.K. Simmons on screen he'd register as' Hey! It's that Guy! who's been in like 50 different things' but now everything I see or hear him in I keep thinking of him as Schillinger. Which gets pretty weird when you see him as the dad in Juno or hear him as one of the voice actors in M&M commercials.

As for attractiveness of the leads, it wasn't so much that they were pretty but you had a group of excellent actors who could make their characters just ooze charisma and sex appeal. Chis Meloni did an excellent job of selling Keller as a guy that many people wanted to get involved with even though you just knew he was utter bad news. Same goes for Dean Winters ('Lord of the ****ing dance' indeed) and I'd even put Eamon Walker's Said in that group.

Completely agree, it's hard to look at Simmons on any of the Law and Order shows without thinking he's going to carve a swastika in someone's butt with a bic pen.

Have you ever noticed that every single actor that ever appeared on OZ has also appeared on Law and Order at some point? It's the same writer right?

I think that most of the people in the L&O side of the East Coast crime drama group are different than the Tom Fontana & David Simon side of the group, but that they use the same four casting directors who keep bringing in actors they know are reliable and that all different parties there talk to each other on a regular basis(see the Homicide and L&O crossover stuff). The overlap of Oz with Homicide:Life on the Street and The Wire actors is also pretty huge.

That and they were able to get a lot of good actors on that show to work for scale because you just didn't get that many chances to do what the show did on screen, and the actors liked the chance to stretch their skills. It's impressive how much work a lot of the Oz regulars have gotten since leaving Em City.

Are these the people in OZ? Or, am I confused?
