Fire kills 7 students at N.C. beach house

Very sad, indeed. Looking at the photos, the house looks like so many here in SoWal- tall, multi-story building. It's so important to have a fire evacuation plan, but it seems more so in a home like this. Please take the time to plan for your safety, whether you live in a home like this or rent one while on vacation

My 4 year old had the fire department visit his school a couple of weeks ago, and he came home and asked us to check the smoke detectors and make a fire plan with him. Kudos to the South Walton FD for hammering that message home with my son.

It was a very somber day in Columbia today. 4 were sorority girls (one from Clemson) and 3 were frat boys. I heard the cause was the fire place explosion...possibly they were trying to light a gas fire place...could not get it to work...gas left on...tried to light it with a match...
A stilts structure and partying kids....
A candle light memorial was held today at 6:00 ....the place was packed with kids...how sad...I just hope this will save lives in the future
