When we got back to the marina the guy asked if he could give us money or anything - I told him to take his money and go into the store and buy a fire extinguisher so if anything like that happened again he could at least get the fire out himself.

Glad to hear some states are getting smart about the situation - we have been boating forever and as more boaters come on it is getting more dangerous - although it does make for many amusing moments.

Whenever I help/tow someone in, I tell them to keep their money and stop for someone if they see them stranded. My old boat crapped out on me a long time ago and boat after boat whizzed right by me. One of them happened to be my neighbor. :pissed:

Yes, and even that is not needed to have a baby. :dunno: How can we get these folks to stop passing on the bad genes?

It has been a while since I operated a motor boat, but if memory serves me correctly, I believe it is a law that boaters are required to assist another boater in distress. Is this correct? :dunno:

I think it may be. Not sure, though. I was fishing on the lake at about 3 in the morning when a pontoon boat puttered up to my boat. There were two old folks on the boat and they had been looking for their house for three hours and couldn't find it. I showed them where it was and they puttered off in the right direction. I could hear the old couple fighting the whole way home.

It was sad but I had to laugh. You can really get turned around in a boat at night. I always turn around and look behind me when I'm on the water at night so I'll know what things look like when I'm on the way back. It is not a bad idea.

Good thing y'all were there to do the right thing and help out. I think they passed a licensing law in TN too. Glad they did. Too many idiots!

 Wow! Ask Graytonbound. I have never taken money for towing a boat in. I tell them the sam thing ... "Next time you see a stranded boat, you tow them in"

I could have had a great picture not long ago on the lake. I looked up from the dock and an old MasterCraft was towing in a brand new Nautique. Something tells me MasterCraft would have paid for that photo. Maybe Nautique would have paid more.
