In the panhandle, man...
If you're going all the way to Destin, might as well go to La Paz over by Target instead.

I love how people say "all the way," like you need some sort of passport and advance reservations to leave SoWal and drive the whole 30-minutes to mid Destin:roll: ...How far is too far for a good meal?

*Edit - Surely grand boulevard will add a "wonderful," "unique" and "convienient" tex/mex restaraunt to their already "extraordinary" linup of retail outlets?

I love LaPaz. Really, IMO it's the only true tex-mex around here. The others lend themseves more to authentic Mexican, which I'm not a huge fan of.
We have no problems driving out to Destin for food. Since my mom lives near the Commons, I go that way almost every day of the week. It kind of suprises me, too, how many people think of it as far away!

well, we wouldn't drive to Destin for anything, except an occasional movie! just too much crazy traffic for us.

I have to drive up to the Commons area twice a week to take Kate to school- and that is plenty. Just reinforces our decision to live in "SloWal"- the Destin traffic and traffic lights and people and parking lots- ugh. I needed to live away from all that- and now I can somewhat control my exposure. I understand that I will have to learn a new routine when tourist season hits.

One of the few good things about Grand Blvd.- it is a reasonably easy drive to get there.

I'm hoping, probably in vain, that Grand Blvd. won't extend the usual Destin jamup (that starts at the outlet mall) on out to the light at Sacred Heart.

I like LaPaz, but the truth is that I can drive to the grocery store, shop, drive home and cook a meal just as good if not better than I can get at LaPaz, without growing impatient while sitting in Destin traffic, and make my own Margaritas, for about 1/4 the price I would pay for it at LaPaz, and I could begin eating about the same time, without having to drive home. Around here, fast food means going to the grocery store and taking it home to cook. ;-)

Not likely. Have you seen the new east-bound turn lanes? They are only about five car lengths long - if that. I don't know what engineer came up with that genius idea but if you plan on driving past it in the summer you'd better be packing a good book...

Any recipes? If you are what you eat, we'd be Tex-Mex because we normally go out for it (only 2 miles away) about twice a week. When I cook Tex-Mex at home, I typically make tacos with the Old El Paso shells and seasoning because it's easy, but it's not as good as at a Tex-Mex restaurant. The only great successes that I've had making Mexican food is using my daughter's salsa and chicken taco recipes that I've posted before. That's the limit of my repertoire. Oh, and the Gordo's cheese dip that Publix carries is good.

So some easy recipes would be nice!
